The first team ever who completed BCoB has a monk in it. I agree when you said Monk's silence is so hard to pull though.Nope they won't.
Monk is the least effective silencing class and the most likely to fail on it, it impacts your DPS, and greatly your TP. (not to mention learning to silence alone takes way longer than any other class too).
I'm not saying we can't do it, I'm running coil as monk with a dragoon and we're at turn 5, it's just a pain for us and a huge hit on our DPS, I can understand any pickup party or progressing group that is "sorry we only want the ideal setup" won't ever be wanting monks, or at least until it is on super farm-mode.

I have BRD and BLM relics as well. My FC still asks me to come on MNK for Turns 1-5. If you play with a group of people with a solid head on their shoulders, they will recognize the benefits of having a MNK in coil. The ability to solo-silence isn't even the main reason.

Ppl denying monks are stupid i wouldnt even bother to go with a group who thinks that monks dps is not enough lol... but you also cant blame them cuz 90 % of monks are so damn bad.
Yeah anyone thinking monk dps is not any good is probably not any good. Now if they think the average monk is bad then I would tend to agree. Monks I have seen tend to be so bad. I saw a monk with relic +1 using rear only... I wanted to slap him.

Basically the MNK's raw DPS + Mantra util versus the DRG's higher AOE DPS and single target Bard fluffing.
The ADS silence is nice, but I honestly wouldn't ever want a raid to rely on that versus a Bard + PLD, even if the MNK is reliable on it. Seems like it would simply be better to have the MNK going full throttle (and save TP). The MNK could fill as backup for missed silences.

So I spent the evening in Coil turn 2, taking turns silencing the nodes/ADS with a Bard. The problem is that my silencing actually registering and silencing the nodes/ADS was really random. Even though I was executing Arm of the Destroyer as soon as High Voltage started charging it would still go off some times. Can this all be attributed to lag and some kind of delay of the boss' skill-charge that I see and what the server actually registers? Has anyone else been experiencing the silencing not registering even though you're sure it should have? Or am I just missing something?
You pretty much need to know when high voltage is coming and slap it about half a second before. By the time your eyes register the cast bar, its too late (connection dependent of course). In my opinion though your PLD should be the one silencing with the BRD. You lose way to much DPS using that silence rotation. If they are really set on making DPS silence, have the group invest in silence potions and go in order. But this would get real complicated once you start having to deal with people remembering Rot and what person is on silence.
You need to be in the correct form (in this case Opo-opo form) for arm of the destroyer's silence to count.
Does this mean I have to do Arm of the Destroyer at least 10 seconds after executing Snap Punch or Demolish to actually be in Opo-opo form and triggering the silence? I.e it won't work if I stand around auto-attacking for too long in preparation for the High Voltage to start to charge.

Snap Punch / Demolish / Rockbreaker all put you into Opo-opo form. Not sure where you got the idea that you needed to wait 10 seconds for anything.Does this mean I have to do Arm of the Destroyer at least 10 seconds after executing Snap Punch or Demolish to actually be in Opo-opo form and triggering the silence? I.e it won't work if I stand around auto-attacking for too long in preparation for the High Voltage to start to charge.
Also, it's not a good idea to use a MNK for silencing. Better to have 2 BRDs do it... and if only one BRD, the BRD can alternate with the tank.
