Fixing Legacy Characters Story

Well damn. Thanks for the answer... but darn it all that I couldn't get to the end of the story so long ago. (Time and money constraints...sigh) So now there is a huge hole that breaks the story and makes little sense. So a 1.0 chara is forgotten but some how spent 5 years elsewhere, twiddling my thumbs? How the heck does this make much sense eh?

As a small writer that isn't one (Only being paid for one's work makes it so no?)... I find that this doesn't make me happy with the entire story. At least not the beginning. I can only bend my imagination so far before it just well... doesn't make sense to me. Ah well. As I said in this thread. It matters not now. I'm nearing the end of the story line, so I don't really care about this much anymore. I'll simply call it poor writing on... someone's part and call it a day.

Obviously our characters would have to have completed later quests in the 7th umbral era story line to affect the Legatus-level Garlean story line in ARR. Mine didn't, so I can accept that her story won't include such references.

Also, we need to separate character from actor here. Name in credits, supporting v1 and the devs in any way: all that was people, not characters. Legacy Chocobo is just that strange thing the character finds in the mailbox, like the Coeurl Mount. It just means some out-of-game money changed hands.

And it's natural I feel disappointed because I thought I was told that my character played some part of this effort against the 7th umbral era, but the devs now say she didn't. It's that awkward embarrassment when you find out someone you've been proud about is revealed to be less than that memory. The extra sting is that since we controlled the characters, it's a statement about us as players, too. (For those that did complete most or all the quests, you're probably feeling some anger, too.)

But the worst and saddest of the situation here is not only this plot hole but memory hole, and the situation we find ourselves and our characters in:
• New ARR character: Never been here, starts to make their story. Happy.
• 7th umbral era quests completed: teleported in, forgotten by NPCs, gets remembered. Happy.
• Other v1: Forgotten by NPCs, forgotten by devs, never remembered. Very sad.

Somehow it sounds like this is a somewhat recent decision. There were people who didn't complete the quests who got the different scenes, and as people keep pointing out, it doesn't make sense that people who should remember us don't. If you signed Mother Miounne's book in 1.0, why doesn't she see your name, just because you didn't complete a quest that happened forever later? Did someone run in and erase anyone's name who didn't complete that task? :x
Kan-e-Senna called her up after taking roll, like "Yeah, these guys are not here. Erase their names and forget they ever existed"?
I spent a lot of time with Urianger, being one of the few people who believed him and agreed to help him, but somehow he doesn't remember that?

And if I wasn't transported, where was I for five years? Why doesn't anyone fully remember me, if I wasn't blanked out of memory? Why wasn't I with my chocobo (it says something like "five years separation doesn't mean anything, because here's your chocobo back by your side~" although I just paraphrased all of that)? Where did the mark on my back come from?
It's nice to have an answer, but I don't buy that it's always supposed to have been this way. This way makes little sense.

I guess there's nothing to do about it now, but it's disappointing.

I feel like SaintAjora in that this sounds like a recent decision as well, I can't find any official material created or sent by Square Enix that stated that Legacy would have to fulfill a set of (hidden) requirements in order to get a Legacy story. I guess my only remaining question for the Square Enix team would be why this was hidden from us, and why the community wasn't told much earlier in advance, or if this was a recent decision, what brought about the sudden change.

Assuming that the same amount of information was presented to both NA/EU and JPN players, I'm sure there are those on our sister servers that are as disappointed as we are about having prerequisites hidden from us.

I'm bummed like all the others, but I guess it gives me time to play on my Taru (er Lalafell) healer for now. I'll hold out on the *hope* that this is still a glitch, that Enix is just overworked right now with all the other bugs and glitches, and that we'll be addressed properly in due time.

Maybe when the Calamity happened, every single NPC got clocked in the head with rubble from the exploding buildings, yay convienent amnesia for everybody!

Seriously though, I made it to the end to the normal storyline, I'm still bummed out. Has to have been a recent decision, but what do I know, I'm a 1.0 nobody. :P

We are going to need a much more fleshed out explanation from the Devs to even attempt to clear out the biggest plot hole in the history of video games (That I know of). Five years is quite a blaring plot hole that kind of screws over the story towards the beginning.

Here is a solution for everyone:

If you completed the 7th umbral storyline, the last mission required you to pray at various prayer stones throughout the world. In the End of an Era cutscene, Louisoix harnesses the power of the prayer stones to trap Bahamut but it fails. In a last ditch effort, Louisoix harnesses the power of the prayer stones to send various adventurers 5 years into the future. We need to assume that 1.0 players that did not reach the point of the storyline where they prayed at the prayer stones; were never sent 5 years into the future.

We know that everyone who was not sent into the future had their memories wiped. Thus, we need to assume that 5 years go by, and those who never completed the 7th umbral storyline arrive at their respective starting capitals with absolutely no memory of the previous adventures they partook in during 1.0. Tragic? Sure. But it makes sense.

Eh... No it doesn't. The only thing about the memories that were wiped were the names and faces of the warriors of light. Everyone clearly remembers the calamity and should have easily recognized the adventures whom were not affected by Louisoix's spell.

Because I couldn't bear to continue a character that had been not only forgotten by the npcs I did so much for previously but also SE, I decided to use a phial of fantasia and have a sex change. And now it makes perfect sense why nobody recognises me! (I used to be a guy!).

But I don't bring it up because that would be awkward.
