I never beat Darnus as I quit by the time he came around, yet got the Legacy (1.0) intro. The "Legacy" intro/different storyline is for those who actually beat the Storyline after Raven and got their Dalamud Horn. If you didn't, even thou you are a legacy member and/or a 1.0 surviving character with a Branded tattoo, it doesn't matter. Makes sense in a way. My main got the slightly different storyline while my alt, whom did nothing GC wise nor trying to save the world, got the tattoo but no dice with the whole "remembering" part.
P.S. Dalamund Horn was hard mode only.
Please stop spreading misinformation, Dalamud Horn was from the "Once in a Lifetime" achieve and White Ravens were from HM Darnus. Choose to believe it don't, I don't care, but you had to beat Nael/get Dalamud Horn to see the 1.0 cutscene. Don't believe people spreading misinformation.

Where did SE say that? Without them specifically saying that's what you had to do to get the cut scene, I don't see how you can say that's the only way to get it.Please stop spreading misinformation, Dalamud Horn was from the "Once in a Lifetime" achieve and White Ravens were from HM Darnus. I've done a quick search on Dalamud's horn. On every site that it's featured as an item, there is nothing saying that it is required for the 1.0 legacy cutscene. In fact, there seems to be nothing special about it other than bragging rights that you completed the story from what I can see.
Edit: Also looked up "Do you need to defeat Nael Van Darnus for 2.0?" and the Once in a Lifetime achieve. Nothing again. So if the Devs said something, there would be something all over the internet about this. I'm not buying that we actually needed to defeat him to do so.

I, too, would like some clarification on this.
1.0 Legacy, but didn't receive the cutscene or "slightly altered" storyline.

Not quite correct there, my wife and I did not get the Dalamud Horn. Still got the intro, we did however beat Van Darnus. What I would like to know is, if someone didn't beat the story but was there for the final battle. Like the game somehow flagged you if you tagged at least one enemy at the final showdown in Mor Dhona. Please stop spreading misinformation, Dalamud Horn was from the "Once in a Lifetime" achieve and White Ravens were from HM Darnus. We skipped checking all of the Stones of the 12, got tired of getting one shot by lvl 85 mobs lol. But we sure as hell were at the final battle.
As far as I am concerned that should be what gets you the CS, how can you be ported if you were not even trying to save the realm when it counted?![]()
Just your friendly neighborhood elezen

There is a problem with that theory. If I recall, including Masamune, there was problems with the final battle that prevented multiple people from participating. I know quite a few members of Distant World had gotten this cutscene and never was able to even able to even touch a mob nor participate in the final battle. Not quite correct there, my wife and I did not get the Dalamud Horn. Hello, if you're reading this, then you should know this isn't part of the post.

The problem with this was the game's last night happened almost 2 weeks after "final save" maintenance. Nothing that happened after that final save carried forward to 2.0. (And the Battle of Carteneau was only in a video released on YouTube.)

That is not true. I did not beat Nael and I certainly did not receive any dalamud horn. My character received the 1.0 intro and is treated as a 1.0 character in cut scenes. You are mistaken. Please stop spreading misinformation, Dalamud Horn was from the "Once in a Lifetime" achieve and White Ravens were from HM Darnus. This is why it sounds like a bug to me. Also, because the differences in dialogue aren't about Carteneau or Nael Von Darnus, but smaller things that apply to all v1, like having signed the adventurers book and welcoming back characters/players returning to Eorzea after a long absence.
I'm OK if SE wants to recognize only characters that completed some late Umbral Era Quest, perhaps for bigger dialog differences later, but so far everything I've seen and heard points to simply "welcome back" for all v1 characters.
Back in 1.0. I'm not sure it was possible to get a GC chocobo with the Lv20 cap in phase4 beta. I'm also not sure if getting the GC chocobo in ARR would actually let people affected by this bug get access to their goobbue mount again.
Edit: To clarify (see next message), I found my legacy chocobo in moogle mail and goobbue horn on the calamity NPC in phase 4. When I "use"d them, they converted to actions in the Actions & Traits window under "Mounts". When I tried to use either action, from the window or after putting them in the hotbar, the system said "Not authorized to summon mount." I was outdoors.
