Castrum Novum is part of GC story quest.
And I did play as new and legacy. And there's a significance albeit a bit slight story difference between the two, at least up till u met Minfillia. Beyond that, I have no idea.

The quest in 1.0 was "United We Stand" and was part of the Grand Company quest line. It was the quest prior to fighting Nael van Darnus.
If you were honestly interested in the game during the time this quest was available you would have been playing it. They probably didn't even have this planned in their development cycle before 1.0 shut down to give an alternate opening.

Actually this was the quest I was shouting in Ul'dah for before the servers went down, so I was interested in the game and very much trying to play it. :P
~Note to self: Stop logging out in silly hats~
So that's like yelling, "HEY BROTHER CAN YOU SPARE SOME CHANGE"? While the moon is crashing down on us & and 100 Nael van Darnus are laying waste to everybody in Ul'dah.

Not literally as the servers went down... ~_~
The point was "I was trying really hard to get this quest done" as a response to the accusation that anyone who hadn't done it wasn't interested/wasn't trying.
To get back to my original question - where was this mentioned? Why be so upfront about Goobbue mounts and flippin' achievements and then not be about something that changes the plot of ARR?

Dunno, I didn't see that 1.0 storyline would have an effect on 2.0 storyline.
Maybe if more people knew that it had weight for 2.0, more people would have done it? =_=

Honestly, at that point of the game it was a glorified IM client to me, I couldn't stand the lag making the things I wanted to do basically impossible TO do. So I just finished the main story and said screw it.The quest in 1.0 was "United We Stand" and was part of the Grand Company quest line. It was the quest prior to fighting Nael van Darnus.

It obviously didn't stop many of us from doing it, so technically no one can complain about a "missed memo" if they chose not to do something![]()

				Yay! An answer!
I'm thinking the story interpretation is that we didn't do enough to make us special in Minfilia's eyes. Oh well. It was fun supporting v1 and the dev team even if we are forgotten.
At least we got a participation award (tattoo), a sort of "try harder next time."
(To be clear: I'm glad we got the answer, and happy to continue leveling in ARR.)

What a shameit won't ruin my experience but I never had the chance to do that part of the game although I finished the main storyline
Ah well! The future of this game is going to be amazing regardless!
