Since the requirement to create an account on the forum is to have an active Final Fantasy 14 account, it would be nice to see who on the forum is who in the game. It does not have to be very detailed but a server/character name of their highest ranked/level character could be easily displayed below their forum name. It is not like a player can hide anything on the lodestone, why should a forum poster be allowed to be so anonymous when expressing their opinions.
This anonymity has given some posters too much freedom in thinking they can say anything here as they please. This will surely cut down on the amount of meaningless posts when it comes to suggestions or opinions being argued irrationally. Saying something that could make them look foolish publicly, may make someone think twice about what they wanted to post. A few post topics can get out of hand really quickly and the forum is full of seriously mixed reactions. Some people just don't know what they want and are still viewing the game through their first reactions with a week or less of play. Many people lack real arguments and are just expressing opinions without reasoning. Any sentence with a qualitative statement about something is not a proven fact which may be used in an argument.
Seeing what kind of player they are in the game may give someone a better understandings of why they might have posted a certain comment. I don't want to see a rank 6 conjurer complaining nonstop about the lack of coolness of particle effects or power in offensive magics. I still see many posts asking for features that have been added already in recent patches meaning the poster has not played recently and are not keeping up with changes being made or planned. When I can see that the last time a poster logged into the game was October, my view of their posts could be really different then of poster who continues to play and experience the main topic in discussion.
It might also just be nice to see a poster and realize that is someone you may have met in the game. The forum names do not have to have anything to do with your in game character and it might be just a pleasant surprise to find out who you have been talking to has been someone on your server that you played with.
