I cannot seem to find an answer to this question.

If I buy the PS3 version, can I play on both platforms, or do I also need to buy the PC version separately to play on both platforms?

It is possible to play with the same account on both Windows and PlayStation 3 platforms. Customers who own a copy of FFXIV for Windows and wish to use their account on the PlayStation 3 version will need to purchase a copy of the PlayStation 3 version. It will then be possible to use your characters on either platform by tying your existing service account to the PlayStation 3 version upon launching it for the first time. Similarly, customers who own a copy of FFXIV for PlayStation 3 and wish to use their account on the Windows version will need to purchase a copy of the Windows version. However, please note that your account will only be able to log into one platform at a time.!

It depends.

If you are a 1.0 player, then you're all set on the PC. If you are a brand new player, then you will require both copies to play on both platforms.

But odd thing tonight when I open the PS3 game. Had to agree to link it to my beta account. I think it showed PS3 and PC on the linked account. So maybe it is glitch? I know we will see Tuesday.

Mine did the same thing, too. It's only for Early Access if you used a pre-order code for PS3. You'll need to enter another registration code in come official release for the platform you purchased.

1.0 owners need only buy the PS3 version as they get a free Digital ARR for PC... As for any of the rest, no, sorry, if you didn't buy 1.0 you need to buy PC and PS3 to play it on both.
