What about something to find and collect through Eorzea?

I was thinking just now about the FF11 'clay quest' in which you had to find all the rock shafts around the world that gave you the knowledge about that famous explorer (and vanadiel lore).

It would be awesome to have some sort of things to do in Eorzea, to incentivate the exploration and to have something to collect around. Some ideas:

    - can find some ancient reliquies scattered around the world, in every corner. These kind of reliquies will teach you more lore about Eorzea and maybe some could give you some particular magic effects or some sort of bonuses.

    - if they'll add a card game, you can collect all the cards, finding them around the world, winning them by players or killing some particular enemies (human and beast tribe ones).

    - can find pages or texts in buildings, temples, ruins, etc. in which there could be some descriptions of monsters with its art, strong points, habitat and so on. A sort of Monster Encyclopedia to collect. You could use that page (as item) during a fight with that particular enemy to have a little bonus against it.

    - can catch unique fishes (not used in cooking) around the world to put them in an acquarium (in your house or in your istanced room -Inn?-).

I think these kind of things would be nice to have in a game like this to incentivate the exploration and fun generally imo. Hope you can contribuite with many more ideas about it

honestly that quest was annoying. And i have the right to say it cuz I did it 5 times. But I agree i would like collections but not for a quest. Maybe (and shoot me for saying it) have it be like dcuo with stuff scattered. And we can an achivement when we complete a collection. maybe a reward for it also. It be a quest no. As that clay quest was for a map if you completed it. The gil and lore was nice. Which ffxi did lore for gusgen mines. I always wondered what happen there as that is only location that as you go deeper have those ghost images grew more frequent. (that zone cares me and I hated having to go in there ><) but knowing what happen might help

Shinies or more generally collectibles are always a nice thing to have (as long as they are not mandatory to find), since they are a very cheap way to entertain some players. I've seen people subbing to Rift only to collect them.

But I can't seem to imagine them without (a real) jump added it. But that's maybe because of my EQ 2 background.

the explirations cou;d take you to each camp give you info on the name/ reason for being there and a fun fact or funny story. with will also help ppl be more willing to collect the teleports for the camps instead of paying someone to take you there. And anyone any level can do it and be rewarded a bit of gil.

that pretty much what I was saying. DCUO does these lil lore bits around the game yiu collect them to earn feats. as you earn feats you earn skill points to w/e (i quit b4 i got a point) I like finding them cuz it made the game fun. I spent more time flying around the 2 cities collecting these lore bit vs doing missions to lvl up. It pretty much gave info on stuff. Another thing to help with lore is exploration tours where you and a npv tour guide wouls show you around the different areas of each zone. Giving you lore info about the area history etc. (minus booster gold doing the tour (i hate him) they were fun to do)

Yeah, many sort of rewards and feats to gain, collecting a determined number of them, would be neat and needed to encourage players to do it.

For the Tours, i don't like the idea :/ ...i prefer explore an unknown land by myself for the first time.

its mostly for lore dude lol. and to encourage exploration. Wouldn't you like to know how camp dry bone got its name? These are also optional that you don't need to do them to get the camps teleport thingies. Only to learn the lore of the camps. Pretty much open to do it at anytime.

Rift has 'artifacts' which are a similar sort of thing. You collect them scattered all over the place to form collections.

I think given the ability of the teams involved in Final Fantasy games, they have a much greater capacity to make unique and interesting things to find, along with some really interesting lore tidbits that could be associated.

I approve of something like this!

and for an option for those who wanna have either a walking tour or a chocobo carrige tour (similar to manaclippers) the route will go to every camp in the zone you pick. give you history of each camp, name, funny stories etc. And added bounus if your a newbie you get theteleport unlocked. Tours will charge a fee depending on which you pick. (walking you can't get attack)

this can be done by anyone with or with out teleports and for anyone who wants to learn the lore of each zone. (this will beat finding some stone monument for a map)
