Lol these forums never cease to amaze me... has anyone even had to really spend gil at all through any of the beta phases? I think you new players blow this way out of proportion. Cant wait till a powergamer runs your economy anyway in 2 weeks.

This is getting out of hand. There is nothing stopping any new player from leveling gathering and crafting and farming mats and gear for themselves. If its simply the idea that someone else has a head start on you that is pissing you off, then you don't deserve any attention on this matter. Hell it's not even like someone can steal your gathering node from under you.
I have friends all over the place. Gilgamesh, Fairy, Couerl, Sargatanas, Excalibur, Ragnarok. You want to know what I found to be interesting in P4? There was a lot of low level gear being sold on the markets on the Legacy servers at a cheap price. On the other servers? Because there is no established economy yet people were pricing gear and mats without sense.
Are there scumbag Legacy elitists in the mix? Yes, some who would even try to control the market. But the truth is you can sit in Uldah and ask for someone to craft something for you and I guarantee someone will answer your call and do it for free. This is the community I've come to know. The FF community.
So please, stop treating us like we're evil merchants after your gibbets already.
Yea, they already stated that they will limit the transfer of gil. >.> , little behind the ball there buddy.
Exactly. Even on legacy servers it's hard to spend your money: nothing from npc is expensive, and there's no way to tell what anything is worth now that they scaled everything down. All anyone with old money does is go about their business waiting for housing so we can finally ball out hah
Even at 50, unless you dont do DoL at all you're more likely to just go farm mats for gear than buying them
The way I see it, a level 50 could sit down and churn out low/mid level HQ gear/weapons, but considering how much gear is thrown at you during quests (so much that in the end you just start taking the gil) that'd be pretty silly.
The only thing I can think of which should prevent Legacy from transferring to non-Legacy is PVP. A fully decked out Legacy char will dominate PVP on that server up until the time the rest of the server can catch up with them gear wise. Actually having Legacy players for PVE would be quite helpful, looking for a decked out tank to take on Insane Mode Moogle Killing Battle Arena? Keep your fingers crossed DF pairs you up with a decked out tank from a Legacy server and not a new player using level 12 subligar because it makes his butt look nice (though personally I'd tank dressed up as a reindeer).
Exactly. It is not even up for debate, Yoshi and the dev team recognize the importance of maintaining New Server with New characters; players didn't even have to ask for it.
My solution
We have three types of servers:
Legacy - as they are now
Regular servers - same as now, but legacy people can transfer over to play with their friends at launch
And a new server for new people who HAVE to be the first to do anything called ... "Fat Chocobo"

Within 2-3 weeks of release there will already be tens of millions of gil flowing on new servers, this is rather moot.
I want to do the world transfer from legacy to new servers so that I can play with my friends that's it

That's actually a terrible excuse to use. All your friends are going to start at level 1 (or 20) so wouldn't you have more fun being the same level so you can go adventure together? The best excuse is that Legacy servers are cramming every player from 1.0 onto a few servers and there are billions of new servers so why not give us a bit of room to breathe, or, Legacy servers are so full that new chars can't be created so your friends can't physically come join you, in which case new Legacy servers should be opened with Legacy to Legacy.
This whole "Legacy would ruin the economy" is the rubbish bit though, but you need a better excuse than "I want to play with my friends even though we couldn't really level together because I'm already level 50", bad excuse!
/edit @ below - I can't make any new posts, way to foster a community forum SE.........
I'm not stating it just for you, I'm stating it for all Legacy players, Legacy players can't use that excuse (I can't, I have no char above 20 odd or w/e it is because I'm really lazy), for starters having 1 char at 50 nets you bonus XP for secondary jobs (easier to level them to 50 so you'll outpace your friends). That's why I said it's a terrible excuse, it wasn't aimed directly at you personally.
