Seasonal Items : Locked Gender!

While we don't have any plans for it currently, if there are enough demands for it, the development team can look into setting up an NPC that would allow you to exchange your items if you've switched your character's gender when remaking your character.

Add me to the tally that would love this feature. I changed one of my characters from female to male miqo'te, and now he can't wear any of the old event gear that I took the time to collect previously. As others have said, even just adding this as another function of the Calamity Salvager NPC would be great!

i wholeheartedly endorse an NPC that allows you to trade genderlocked event items. With the phial of fantasia coming, it would certainly be a good compliment to it's use.

I've been wondering about this since it was announced that we could change our character's gender. I'd love to be able to trade gender locked items, too! Pretty please? - puppy eyes -

And as someone else mentioned, it would be great not only for 1.0 players but also for people that use the phial of fantasia to swap gender.

This year's Moonfire Faire is right around the corner, and during the event, we will be making it possible to obtain all of the swimwear from version 1.0. Likewise, next year, there is a good chance that we do the very same thing with the yukatas.

The exchange would be very welcome! Yoshida did say in a letter that we "shouldn't worry about it" in terms of our gender specific gear when remaking our 1.0 characters. But when we logged on and our gear was unequipable (not like I want to see this old man elezen in a bikini anyway) we then started to worry. Hopefully there will be an exchange NPC soon!

I would like this feature please. Im stuck with a bunch of swimwear I cant equip.

I'm a little bit sad that previous years' items are available again this year. I think it adds a nice bit of exclusivity to your character to show "I was here at so and so date".

I know we're getting new stuff as well, but I kinda like being a special snowflake and having stuff you can't get again (like dalamud horn, white ravens etc).

(Fully support the gender change of previous years' gear though, that was obviously an oversight)

Huh, in my excitement I almost missed that. Really, the same swimsuits and yukatas -- not even recolors? I know we saw new swimsuits, so does this mean the new summer event coming up will let us get the old ones too?

As much as I like the old event gear, and will miss it if it cannot be exchanged, this is somewhat disappointing and sets a precedent I do not like. While I fully support new characters being able to get fun event gear, I don't like the idea of the same exact items being available more than once. It makes the gear seem less special, and is also a letdown for people that already have it as they have less to do in the event than someone who doesn't have any of it.

It will be a nice way to replace gender-locked items on characters that have gotten a gender swap . . . but I'd much rather just have an NPC that allows for exchanges, like the Calamity Salvager currently does for seasonal item materials.
