Just the three for now it looks like.

I like the idea of summoner being able to fill the role of off-tank. Whether for tanking adds during a fight or pulling adds to the main tank, I think it's an interesting role to have for a caster. In the first couple dungeons, I was able to use super carbuncle for just that (and if the tank died). The casting time isn't terrible compared to a dead healer due to adds, and later in the game positioning may be important enough that the tank won't be able to turn a certain mob.

As they raise the level cap/come out with more expansions, Shiva, Ramuh, & Leviathan Egis are supposed to be added. What they do, who knows, but so far, Egis share several moves with their XI counterparts.
For example, Shiva Egi may know Sleepga, Leviathan Egi may know Spring Water (AoE Cure + Esuna), and Ramuh Egi... idk Lightning Armor (AoE Shock Spikes, lightning dmg + chance of stun when you get hit), Rolling Thunder (AoE Enthunder), or maybe Shocking Squall (I forgot the name, but it's AoE Stun). Atm it seems Garuda Egi = caster DPS pet (similar to Emerald 'buncle), Ifrit Egi = melee DPS pet, and we already know Titan Egi = Topaz 2.0 (Makes sense, Emerald = Green, Garuda = Green, Topaz = Yellow, Titan = Yellow).

No, I think you misread whatever said that. What happens is that BOTH SMN and SCH's lvls are dependent on your ACN lvl. So if you lvl ACN to 45 with SMN unlocked, SMN will be 45 when you equip the soul. If you swap to the SCH soul, the SCH will be lv45. Jobs do not have exp bars of their own, only the main class their tied too. (so SMN doesn't gain extra lvls from THM and SCH doesn't gain lvls from CNJ, only ACN for both)

Edit: To unlock SMN, you need THM at lv15. To unlock SCH, you need CNJ at 15. In addition, ACN must be 30+ and for each job, you have to do a quest to gain the Job Soul. After that, you can freely change jobs/classes between SMN/SCH/ACN by equipping/unequipping souls while on ACN.

I still haven't seen any official word on this. I'd like to see a source. I mean, that would be the obvious choices and those are what I leveled, but I'd like some sort of official statement.

Thank you so much for this post. It clears up a lot of confusion for me. Is there a SE generated resource that describes this in more detail? If I am in the SMN or SCH job, do I still gain EXP for the ACN class?

At 30, I was able to do both the SCH and SMN quests as ACN, with only CNJ/THM above 15 for other jobs (Started today with CNJ 20, THM 20, ACN 20, PUG 12, ARC 4).

SCH pulls abilities from THM and CNJ.

SMN pulls abilities from THM and ARC. (they DO NOT have access to aero, as a result)

The quests said nothing about requiring any particular classes at any level other than the obvious level 30 prerequisite for Arcanist, so draw conclusions as you will... but since I had both DoM jobs at 20, there isn't really anything conclusive to draw.

Both quests began in the ACN guild after you complete the level 30 class quest, and SCH sends you to the Marauder guild (Where your scholar contact will remain for later quests), and then subsequently elsewhere to complete 1 Duty quest.
Your contact for SMN is in Gridania, and is followed up similarly with a Duty quest.

I suppose that the definitive piece of information you can pull from this is that there are at most 1 required classes for each job, and the second is definitely secondary simply for abilities.

i somehow think carby is a bit OP when it comes to tanking. granted the initial three dungeons are fairly easy, it remains to be seen how it can perform in the other ones. as an off tank, its probably likely but i dont imagine it will be nearly as easy or efficient as a non pet off tanker.
