Why would you make a new character to go Black Mage? Just level up Thaumaturge on your current character.Yup level 40 at the moment let me just say the level 40 skill is downright disappointing and let me add if summoner damage needs a buff or what I think square should do is buff the pets.
Now I am kicking myself for not going black mage when I made my character. >_> Since its long to start again and the fact that servers are locked from making new characters.
They are a DPS class and sure you can do dungeons with them, only problem is if you have ANY other DPS class in the dungeon instead, you would be able to finish that dungeon so much faster because they just do much more damage than Summoners at the current state.
Being #2 on the aggro list does not mean much, just means you aggro them more, it does not mean you deal more damage. According to the damage meters, we constantly deal much less damage than all the other DPS classes out there.
Don't get me wrong, this class is fun and I like it and will continue to play it but I am just disappointed in the damage output overall. All other classes outshine us in damage potential.
You guys will see what I mean when your level 45+ and group up alot, we can't even stack up DoTs fast because all of our skills share the same global cooldown.
Damage meters currently mean squat in-game because of how DoT damage is factored(or not factored) into the combat log.
Also, it does mean you do more damage.
DoT damage is factored into the combat log if you know how to set it up, so the damage meter does accurately display total damage.
So how are you guys placing your bonus attributes? I wanted to play SMN/SCH both so I'll have a healer/tank/dps all on my character without having to level 3 jobs; however, I realized Cleric's Stance is SCH only (horrible move) so I can't just stack MIND (with any vit/piety needed) and use Clerics Stance when I dps or play SMN. Wish they'd fix that and allow SMN to use it since activating it causes the heal debuff and dmg boost (so you'd want high MIND since it'll the become high INT when you get the buff and debuff).
Do you guys just balance INT/MIND bonuses and use your gear for more INT or is there a better solution for those who want to play both Jobs?

Clearly you've not tried to level another character when you have no quests left. I have my pug up to 25 and doing another 16 fates for one level isn't my idea of fun, and that's just to get 26. It's far quicker in some cases to just make a new character.
I am still going to play Summoner even though we are a gimped class.
Just hoping the Dev's know about this soon and fix our class up abit to make Summoner at least being able to compete with all the other DPS classes.
Yup, level 20 at the moment and having a lot more fun actually its nice to actually do damage. Plus thau class quest is awesome so far can't wait for level 25.
