    nice laugue and tude btw
    anyway...

what you said worked but was was also a flaw. defined roles mean defined jobs mean you look for jobs not players. Meaning if you are not a needed job or SOL.

this made ppl quit the game I nearly did because of that. It promoted cookie cutting ( which i hated) and flavores of the year (which i again hated)

its not fun wait or looking for hours for the right class or levels. which is why ff14 was set up like it was. Just no one understood it and tried to make it hoe ff11 was set up which when they relized how it hurt them they complained over it.

    aka
    physical level = characters level
rank was how skilled in that weapon which in a sense defined your type.

meaning whyone of any physical lvl can group as long as ranks meet the right skills level range.

They shouldnt be defined (the classes), but I agree that they should allow for more definition and specialisation. If you bothered to read my post I said it was an ongoing process that requires time the original development team obviously didn't have. Being dismissive of the system as a whole just because the system needs tweaking is ridiculous.

Furthermore, that you would rather preserve the status quo, however boring and limiting, is what's really baffling about this situation. Tanaka's team should not be condemned for trying to improve the genre. There is a reason certain games succeed where others fail. And preserving the status quo while all the competition are innovating is a certain path to failure.

pere what really happen was techincal issues with the servers. Lauching the game as is was to help with that. While building the game up from it. they couldn't make or add much if they couldn't keep the servers from going nuts.

After launch ppl pretty much didn't like the game or the direction. ppl expected ffxi 2. And i mean a clone of ffxi. ffxiv was suppose to fixs flaws in ffxi that made it un popular. 1 being too time consuming 2 long waits for grouping due to needing only certain jobs leaving most benched. While adding to the good thing about ffxi fov pages, which are levequests in ffxi. (just stuck on a reset limit due to possible rmt abuse)

ffxiv was meant to be a fun easy going game for those who just want to have fun. Not have elitist players rule the game, like they did in ffxi. Which kinda stop being fun after a while tbh. sorry a big flaw in ffxi was the wait times due to the elitists. And being forced to plat a certain way or solo.

This is from Page 3, so I apologize for the delay but I've tanked Dodore on ARC as ARC/THM duo (pre-nerf). There really isn't much luck involved. lol

I have no opinion one way or the other about the OP though. Just thought I'd get a little fact troll in before bed!

Tanaka was involved in some great games for SE before, (prominent examples including Secret of Mana, Chrono Cross, first three final fantasy games, Xenogears, Seiken Densetsu 3, and obviously Final Fantasy XI) so I really have nothing against him. It makes sense that he was under pressure to get FFXIV out the window, and he took the responsibility for it, which took a lot of guts.

As for Naoki Yoshida, I'm very curious to see how he will do. I'm not even sure what his game history is save a couple of games (and I'm told one of them is a hentai, heh) , but I did notice that Final Fantasy XIV is his first and only SE project that he was involved with, which makes it interesting. So far, I'm liking how he's doing as the Producer/director, and can't wait to see more.

Personally, I'd like to see the two of them work together, along with the folks that were involved in one of FFXI's best expansion, rise of the zilart.

I dont deny that Tanaka condoned a lot of stupid crap: inexcusable copy-paste, repetetive guild leve system, solo story-mode questing.
To be fair, a lot of the early story mode quests were soloable until you get to later part which required multiple people in FFXI. We're still in the very early part of the game, and for all we know, we will see what we currently have as the very bare beginning of the story in what is to come.

    Edit:

I will agree with one thing, there were a LOT of bad ideas with FFXIV that made me go wtf (one of the biggest is the fact that anyone can wear anything with little restriction.) but eh.

Being able to wear anything works fine in the game and I don't see why that's a problem. I always dress down when I am playing a low level character and dress up when on a high level character. But at least I don't have to be so utterly pedantic about it as per every other MMO.

Many games actually don't have strict gear restrictions, and I personally don't see how FFXIV could function with a restriction system in place.
