Tanaka or Yoshi?

Debate all you want but Yoshi is in charge now...2.0 will come out regardless of what people want/say and it will be Yoshi's vision I am looking forward to it! Tanaka made some great games (Secret of Mana yayy) but he had his chance in FFXIV and whatever happened happened.

I loved what he did in FFXI, that stuff was great. I also loving what Yoshi is doing...with all this stuff he is adding it really gives me the old FF feeling that Sakeguchi's games gave me.

I agree, and I think everyone else should agree, that the past is the past, the games Fundamentals have already changed greatly, I don't think they want to spend another 5 months reshaping it again.

Besides Yoshi-P is doing a great Job, for the people that don't like his Vision, should just pack up there bags and leave now, because honestly.. nothing is going to change, not in the slightest, all you do is try to start a flame war between those that love FFXIV now and those who don't.

Grand Companies were a great addition to the game.. Now since we have like 10 ranks to achieve, +Weapons, I feel like I'm getting more attached to my Company and nation more and more everyday, by serving them!

Yoshi-P don;t listen what anyone says, you do your thing, and what your doing, is making everyone happy! Take the Feedback that matters and make the game how YOU like it Yoshi-p No one else, just you and Your Vision!

For as many people who doomsay version 2.0 (Hi, Dragon, nice to see you being a negative Nancy again.) There is one, undeniable thing that Yoshi has above Tanaka.

He's guiding the company forward as a more open and consumer friendly environment.

Not the game, but the entire tone of these forms in general on behalf of the FFXIV team has been far lighter than FFXI's side for the bulk of the time both sites have been open. Camate, Bayone can probably attest to the fequency of communications and the depth of conversation is often a log heavier on this side than it is on FFXI's forums - and that's primarily due to Yoshi's own influence, where as Tanaka is more tight-lipped.

For me, that's a tremendous benefit, and a major advantage in Yoshi's favor regardless of the outcome of 2.0.

The biggest thing Yoshi has over Tanaka is MMO experiance from a user's point of view. Tanaka doesn't play MMOs, he admited hearing of WOW and seeing a bit but never played and wasn't interested in it. All he knows is XI which was a ripoff EQ1 and while it was good for its time 8 years ago, the MMO scene changed and what was good back then is unacceptable now in 2012.

Yoshi-P is a gamer, he played WOW and other MMOs. He knows how it's done, what is popular, what draws in the casuals and what this game needs now in 2012. Tanaka had very narrow vision of things. He wanted a new MMO, that doesn't resemble XI but he knew nothing of the MMO scene and assumed he knew what we all wanted.

Yes i am bringing WOW a lot, but when you got a world wide reputation like WOW with 15M subs, you must think they did something right somewhere and giving it at least a look won't hurt. You gotta see what the competition is bringing in order for you to surpass them. This is what everyone does in any business, car makers, electronics, phones etc.... You don't see Samsung coming out with a phone with specs from 1999 and claiming they didn't know what apple or anyone else had out there. RIM on the other hand did just that and look where they are now.

Just go back to XI. Tanaka makes awesome offline RPGs, some of my all time favorites like Xenogears but for MMO he sucks.

I would be more than willing to go back to XI, because at least it was an MMORPG and not an online single-player game. But hey, as has been said a million times plus in the past on this board, I can't just go back and play FFXI because it is no longer what was Final Fantasy XI.

I like how Elexia has all those facts "everyone knows". Can I get a link to your sources please?. I never resort to this, but please, stop talking out of your ass. No one outside of SE will ever know what happened with FFXIV, you can speculate and defend all you want, but the undeniable truth is: The game failed and Tanaka admitted his fault in public and officially.

As much as you are praising Tanaka for his vision, you are actually calling him a liar, hypocrite and weak minded person because none of you accepts his oficial statement accepting the whole blame for the blunder FFXIV was. You are content in saying he was bullied by Wada to take the blame.. For what!? so he could keep his job? ... You think a game developer is willing to stake his dignity and credentials to keep a job? for real!?.

I actually have respect for Tanaka in coming out and accepting the blame.

P.S: Rokien, it seems you are enjoying the fame you have acquired in the forums. You're including your name in the title of your threads, as if you knew people will flock to your threads to disagree with you and start a whole debate, etc. I've seen some of your comments about preffering the previous vision of the game and such. It is your opinion, but I am starting to think you are just posting to be a contrarian and start as much "flame wars" as possible. You used to have interesting point of views, now, all I see is you enjoying the spotlight.

LOLL i was thinking the same thing. She pulls out numbers,dates and facts that you won't find anywhere else but her threads. I dare anyone to goolge any of her so called facts.

Whenever i say something, i google it.. find info released by SE themselves in press releases and such. Then she comes out contradicting it with info that wasn't mentioned anywhere but for some reason she supposedly has the best sources.
