    I'm going to assume it will work similar to when 1.0 began charging, you can make the max amount of characters (so 8 per server, 40 total) and once the free period runs out all of them will get deactivated and you will have to pick which one(s) you want to pay for. Keep in mind this hasn't been stated anywhere officially.
