There was a similar question here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...26th-till-27th that asked a different question but the information I gave them over there should help you out with your concerns.
I found this on reddit and, apparently, people who start up the launcher right now and haven't registered for early access are getting messages after less than a minute of waiting and one of the lines says:
"Users participating in early access must also complete registration by August 30,2013. Using the code enclosed with your package, please complete registration through the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Mog Station."
(The info in the white box was added by the poster)
Info found here: http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/commen...tion_works_pc/
That picture also confirms what I been suspecting, you can continue to play the game without a physical copy of your game in hand until August 30th.
Here is original post, 5th question asked:

For those who pre-order, is there any way we can get our full game registration codes early?
We're working to get everything confirmed before making an announcement, but for those who receive their early access codes, we're considering adjusting the early access to include a short period after official service begins. This would help ensure users can play in the event their package is not delivered on time. This may not guarantee players will be able to play the entire time until their package is delivered, but we will do what we can to make the transition to release as smooth as possible.

That is a good question. They said that you get the rewards when you pay but all other P2P games I've been in would only charge you after the 30 days no matter what subscription plan you setup. So logically, I think you'd have to wait the 30 days unless you're one of the 1.0 players without the free 30 days and only have the free 14. In which case, the earliest would be 2 weeks after launch for anyone to get veteran rewards.I'm hoping we can subscribe immediately on day one to receive the subscription bonus items. I'm really hoping I don't have to wait thru the free 30 days to get the Phial of Fantasia. Just take my money and give me the Phial!
I would think you have to wait until the Mog Station launches. I can be wrong but didn't they say they are going to use that for subscription & such services.I'm hoping we can subscribe immediately on day one to receive the subscription bonus items. I'm really hoping I don't have to wait thru the free 30 days to get the Phial of Fantasia. Just take my money and give me the Phial!

It would also be nice to know if payments can be made through psn? I know the current payments methods of crysta, credit card, or the new time cards but payments through psn have not been clarified. I played dcuo from release and they always offered it for their subscriptions. I have a friend in canada who may not get to play due to not owning a credit card and his village is too small to recieve the time cards. It seems se would be missing a piece of the market without this option. If anyone has info on such payment method it would helpful.
"Busy days are filled with work and responsibility, so when its time to play I go into it head first for full enjoyment. When interacting with me in a forum or in game environment I will always greet everyone as a friend! Please realize this and dont approach me in a hostile way. This is my stress free zone and all violaters will be black listed and ignored. Thankyou for your full understanding and lets have fun together!"

I just patched the client, and it made me do a new terms of service agreement... in the second agreement section 4 was subscriptions, and it said that we would need to add a sub to get into the game there.... even though we get 30 days free. Take for what it's worth.
