FFXIV Purchase for Legacy players Q

So I am a legacy CE owner, and I was a beta tester, and I have the game installed on PS3 already, along with my pre-order code.

It appears to me, that when I go to pick up the game for PS3, I don't actually need the code that comes with the game. Is this correct? The reason I ask is, if I already have the preorder items, and the CE items, and I get my account from Legacy status, if I can continue playing on the PS3 without issue, then I'd rather give the game to my significant other and have them play with me.

Basically point was, why waste a registration code if it's not necessary? So, is it necessary? The game already patches and gets to where I would log in.

Legacy gets you automatically into the early start All you have to do is log in with your user name and PW on either PC or PS3

I know you Eadieni from several years back! We played FFXI together and FFXIV 1.0 together for a bit. I was Ayira Ebele in 1.0 and Reya on XI

As far as we know, a few day after launch (end of grace period) when you log in you'll get the request to have to enter the registration code for the PS3 version whether your from 1.0 or not.

Hey Ayira! long time, and 11 was great memories once. Then level 99 happened.
Well I hope there is some actual clarification. Because it comes down to this: If she has to buy FF14 she's gonna stick to GW2 most likely but if it's just using my extra code (and it doesn't make me lose access to ps3) she's going to play for a long time.
I also remember from FF11 days a lot of wasted codes, like you buy an expansion and it gives you a code for FF11 and the previous expansions, but you only need the new one. Well, I gained SE about 4 customers that paid for multiple years by giving out those unnecessary codes. And I'm trying to do the same here ~

Think of it from the perspective of someone who doesn't even have a PC version of the game... If it works as you're suggesting, no one would need to buy the client, they could just pre-order the game from a gamestop (standard edition) use the code, cancel/shift their pre-order to something else, and then just need to start their subscription.

They've specifically said that PC account owners would still need to purchase the PS3 version in order to access their account on a PS3.

Thats how I got early access, I just preordered from amazon and then cancelled when I got the code.

If you want to play on PS3 also after the 27th you need the gamecode. The early access registration end at the 27th and you can't no longer login with your PSN until you register the PS3 gamecode.

Legacy give him early access only for PC, not for PS3.

You will need the code on the 27th for the ps3 version since its a new platform that isnt registered to your account. The PC version will not need a code at launch since you already registered it. If you ordered another PC version, you would be able to give it away to a friend.

I believe Legacy status only gets you early access on the PC. PS3 players will have to preorder to get it.

I'm not 100% sure of that, though, so if someone could correct me, that would be great. I was met with the "You do not have any valid service accounts" screen on the PS3 client until I redeemed a valid Early Access code, which is why I believe that to be the case.

After early access the client on the PS3 will expire. Afterwards you need to link your PS3 copy to your PSN account, which enables your SE account (which is linked to your PSN account) to run the game on PS3.
Without this permission you can't run FFXIV in the PS3.
