In-Depth Tanking Class/Job Analysis.

Question: Did anyone have issues Tanking using a Gamepad? I've never really used Keyboard and Mouse for the other MMO's that I have played like FFXI and DCUO. Durning the Phase 4 I didn't have many issues as well. But I was wondering, with more difficult content and more skills becoming avaliable, should I force myself to learn to plan with Keyboard and mouse or will I be ok sticking the a Gamepad?

The only problem I've had issues with tanking on a gamepad is selecting distanced mobs that are either ranged attackers or just late stragglers that agro the healer. I normally like using quick select rather than D-pad (cancel, then hit X to target enemy in front of me).

The work-arounds I've developed (but yet to test thoroughly) is to either just rely on virtual mouse mode to target or have a party member mark it with X and use my X target macro to target it (this requires really good trust between party members).

As a Lalafell PLD would it make sense to put a little more stats into VIT to make up for the HP of my little body? I only ask because I'm not sure Lalafell suffer a great HP loss like Tarutaru in FFXI.

Racial stats are minimal at best for all races. They're only there for lore purposes. At level 50 I could tank just as good as another race of equal skill level

No info on marking targets? I know it's common sense for a decent tank but just wanted to throw it out there. I ran TTD in P3 like 20 times and made a note to self to mark targets in P4. Peeps just randomly attacking whatever started to wear on me. We aren't playing WotLK here.

It's one of the things that will be implemented in the guide under "Macros". I got my marking macro going since p3, so I know what you mean. It will be in there soon

Good overview of the class, as someone said it's not really an in-depth guide, but I didn't expect that either considering game isn't really released yet.

Gonna look into alot more theorycrafting when I get closer to 50 on my Warrior, I'm especially interested in the possibilities of Str+Dex tanking.
