I don’t necessarily craft much primarily due to my opinion that crafting is a little monotonous at the moment. However I had an idea that might draw more people to crafting in FFXIV by adding a party crafting feature that would allow several people in a party to work on items of varying levels.
Take for instance; you may have a party of 5 ranging from armorer, blacksmith, goldsmith, weaver, and tanner. If you gain access to a crafting facility it will take your party to an instance where there is a large manufacture machine for producing many types of items. Each party member takes a station at the machine similar to an assembly line and after inserting the appropriate materials for the synth, the crafters engage in a series of button sequences they must complete with a certain degree of success for their respective portion of the synth to complete.
The button sequence would zoom in on your character and display a 'guitar hero' style stream of buttons across the screen. The button sequence would last approximately 3-5 seconds and would jump from character to character as they each complete their portion, everyone would be able to view the other members as they wait for their turn to come up on the machine.
BMS would smelt items at their station and then cool them off in water then quickly pass it off to the ARM whom would then pound the item into a semi-finished state. The goldsmith would perform finishing touches such as sharpening, painting, and embroidering. The weaver would add cloths to the item like sleeves for gauntlets and vests to prevent chaffing, the tanner would do the same with skins. One person would get to keep the item unless the party inserted enough items to make enough for everyone which would in turn increase the length of the synth.
I don’t know how many will agree with this, but I thought it might make crafting more appealing for those who don’t craft much such as I.
