Ideas to make crafting more appealing

I don’t necessarily craft much primarily due to my opinion that crafting is a little monotonous at the moment. However I had an idea that might draw more people to crafting in FFXIV by adding a party crafting feature that would allow several people in a party to work on items of varying levels.

Take for instance; you may have a party of 5 ranging from armorer, blacksmith, goldsmith, weaver, and tanner. If you gain access to a crafting facility it will take your party to an instance where there is a large manufacture machine for producing many types of items. Each party member takes a station at the machine similar to an assembly line and after inserting the appropriate materials for the synth, the crafters engage in a series of button sequences they must complete with a certain degree of success for their respective portion of the synth to complete.

The button sequence would zoom in on your character and display a 'guitar hero' style stream of buttons across the screen. The button sequence would last approximately 3-5 seconds and would jump from character to character as they each complete their portion, everyone would be able to view the other members as they wait for their turn to come up on the machine.

BMS would smelt items at their station and then cool them off in water then quickly pass it off to the ARM whom would then pound the item into a semi-finished state. The goldsmith would perform finishing touches such as sharpening, painting, and embroidering. The weaver would add cloths to the item like sleeves for gauntlets and vests to prevent chaffing, the tanner would do the same with skins. One person would get to keep the item unless the party inserted enough items to make enough for everyone which would in turn increase the length of the synth.

I don’t know how many will agree with this, but I thought it might make crafting more appealing for those who don’t craft much such as I.

I like crafting the way it is, and I like the concept of having some crafting where more than one person can do it together, I think that's cool....one thing though, no Guitar Hero....no thanks. I don't want some QTE either....I like the crafting system in XIV more than any other MMO on the market and I hope they leave it as is, even if they do add some crafting with more than one person.

i agree >.> see kaze i'm not a whiner casual WoW player so :P

i wouldn't mind group crafting like the ship building or cake making in the last promo vid we saw. Or crafter lines where each crafter make certain parts of items and produces a few more items then a single crafter.

Or something like synergy in ffxi where you can group up and make those multi craft items each person getting a product.

One thing i would like to see while crafting, that when i go to guild house and buy facilities, i would like to be able to use the stuff that is there. Wel that alot of work for animators but would be cool. In everything else i find crafing awesome as it is.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.

I actually really like crafting the way it is now, too. I've never really cared for it in other MMO's, but it's so much more involved here that I really enjoy it. Party crafting is interesting, but I'd never want to see it as an integral thing. Maybe as a leve or quest line, but that's it.

Hoping to see more game mechanics added to crafting. In the end, I would like there to be some kind of "challenge" involved just like with the combat classes.

Right now we have one minigame but considering it takes roughly as long to level a DoH as it takes to level a combat class, I think more game mechanics are needed.. Variety is the spice of life.

    whatever...

I hope they'll stop forcing players to craft

If I have better way to repair my own gears I won't craft at all

I respect ppl who enjoy crafting but it's not something for me, everytime I craft I feel painful

I think they should add crafting parties, my idea would be to create a party then both players start crafting but both would recieve bonus SP for eachothers craft. Example would be , there would be a " Crafting Pool " i would craft someting that gives me SP and that would add + 10 SP to the crafting pool. then say after a few hours of me and my friend crafting we have accumulated 3,000 SP in the crafting pool then with the click of a " distribute " icon would give us both an instant bonus of 1,500 SP each. with more crafters would yield less " crafting pool " SP, like if we had 5 people we would each add + 2 SP a synth rather 10.

i think a simple idea like this would be fun, now of course the specifics of Bonus SP per synth and how many players could do this Etc., just an example. or someting like this. also i like Jieddo idea as well
