Bunp. Reps can we please get this forwarded to the devs? Still no official word on this, many 1.0 players effected (and I'm sure many more will make the same mistakes). Even for just name/appearance change for those effected by errors, they haven't elaborated on how those players will get access to that opportunity.
Not sweating it much, but I also didn't change my name when I wanted to. Next thing I knew my character was created, I thought it would give me the opportunity towards the end of the creation.
I like that they are allowing people to remake their characters that were affected by bugs and not being able to load their data. I would just like to know how one is to know they are on the list to get another shot at it.
Indeed, was also hoping they would provide information to see who is eligible and who isn't but with less the 2 and a half hours left before servers come up, guess we won't be finding out anytime soon.
Response I just got after sending a support email:
"Hello and thank you for contacting the GM team. We understand you were unable to change your character's appearance and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. While we cannot guarantee that your character's appearance can be reset, we have taken the information you submitted and escalated it to the appropriate parties.
Thank you for your patience and best wishes to you,
FINAL FANTASY XIV GM Team"
Eh... I was pretty specific about wanting a full reset to change my class/starting city, as well. So this was probably an auto-response. But it's cool they responded and escalated it. Edit: Oh, also, this was a million times faster than getting any sort of support in FFXI. So also cool.
Why not just make a mule and experience each city's initial quest line? It's only about 3 hours long in any event. A lot less drastic than refusing to play.Seriously, you guys want everyone to have fun and love this game, don't you? Well for some of us, starting in the wrong city is a HUGE bummer. It's really taken a lot of the wind out of my sails, and I might even hold off on playing till we get an official answer. I REALLY want to experience ARR from the perspective of a an Ul'dah character, just as I was in 1.0. But because of one easy-to-make mistake (look how many people have done the same thing), I get to play with a little rain cloud of bummerdom hovering over me.
I was trying to find a way to roll back my char as well. i too accidently picked the wrong starting city and it's one of those things thats going to be in the back of my head for the rest of my time in FFXIV ARR unless it's fixed. i even called SE and talked to someone about rolling back my char. at the time he said it wasn't possible
But it HAS to be. they definitely have the capability to roll back your char's data. they did it in FFXI all the time when ever someone was hacked and lost items. i seriously h ope if enough people speak up they'll do something about this
Ya but there is a huge difference between beeing hacked and making a mistake. And if they start to rollback single chars they won't be doing anything else the next few days....I was trying to find a way to roll back my char as well. i too accidently picked the wrong starting city and it's one of those things thats going to be in the back of my head for the rest of my time in FFXIV ARR unless it's fixed. i even called SE and talked to someone about rolling back my char. at the time he said it wasn't possible

And everybody that has ever worked with DBs knows that rollbacks are the least thing you want to do and avoid them whenever possible. Especially if you have to mess around with a huge DB.
I didn't get any kind of prompt or anything to recreate my character when logging in for early access. =/
