I believe they mean you can just pull skills from the Archer class. Once you pick a job you can only pull from 2 other classes.

to answer your Q: to make BLM ='s THM+ACN.. you can pull skills from ARC if you lv. it.

I have a weird question, is there any 50 BLM's with decent 50 gear or that has seen decent 50 gear that can tell me what the stat increases are approximately? I'm curious because I'm assuming the gear will be very similar stats to SMN so I'm trying to figure out how much of each stat I'm going to want as I level up. (PM me if you don't want to waste the post limit)

Actually ACN is not required, I only leveled my archer to 15 and got my BMG unlocked. I assume its either or in this case.

Only archer unlocks black mage. I read that it was ACN when I first started in beta 4. After I got my THM to 25, I took a break and leveled ACN to 15. When I got lvl 30 THM, the job quest was red saying I needed level 15 ARC for BLM. I'm not complaining though, at least I had Psysick early on.

I had a question regarding BLM in ARR. I am currently leveling my THM because I know that is the main requirement for unlocking BLM. (THM = 30) However, does anyone know what the second class is that needs to be leveled to 15? Any insight would be appreciated.

You only level up archer to get some (very good) skills, but you dont have to do it to become BLM
