Combat effect redesigns involved, again, increased size of the effects, when most complaints were that the effects were boring and too similar to one another.

The devs are still investigating how to implement jump/AH, and their effects. Really? You can come up with a workable database schema for an AH in less than a day, and the queries and services to add or remove entries in less than an hour. Why is this taking so long?

There have been NO new levequests introduced, and the side quests that were introduced are extremely basic, light on lore, and few in number. Is anyone even writing lore for this game?

Devs still investigating map collision for getting hung up on ledges?

Market Ward search is still elementary and not flexible. Seeking items is still extremely difficult to work with.

Why does everything take so long? What's taking up all the dev's time?
I don't know, i thought people had common sense?

First of all, the first few weeks, we were given polls to see just where Tanaka left off and how Yoshida can implement some features that would keep us playing the game and bring people back. They cant just start working on whatever they wanted because that's going back to the way they usually do things, which brought about this disaster in the first place.

Secondly, by the time they started shooting out patches, they've gotten a few earthquakes and a tsunami, and now they have another tsunami warning..

Really, I think SE is tired of see threads like this. Sometimes there is just nothing you can do to cater to a bunch of babies. Let alone i even wonder why they want to? (besides the money)

it's amazing how a simple question can turn a thread into this. this is why forums are so fun!

Well, I'm impressed that a college kid, in his spare time, was able to knock out a shell of an AH in 5 hours... I mean, hey, if he can do it in 5 hours... how long is it going to take a professional to do it? Either way, no excuse not to have an AH in the game.

Reviews will be awful if they 're-release' without an AH... again.

As someone pointed out, his project is actually different from what a game would use, this project is basically making another:

    www.ffxivpro.com

    or

    www.ffxiah.com

Nothing that the actual in-game AH would be programmed like.

So you're telling me that an MMO AH would be radically different than either of those websites? Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the code involved in those websites are far more complex than an MMO AH.

Look, if it's not difficult for a thousand other MMOs to have an AH... then it shouldn't be difficult for a multi-billion dollar company to get one done in a week.

No one said it was difficult, it's just not "a day's work", all MMOs I play their AH's are exactly the same, some with more features (like Search: [ enter item name (ID) here...) ]) or lack some features (specific armor categories only being displayed by "Armor" instead of Armor > Dropdown > Head, Body etc.)

Also it would be different because compared to a website, you're incorporating interactivity with a video game, which said websites basically pull certain information at a small delay (with certain features) because it can't 100% read the game's handling of said information with utmost optimization.

All the websites do is to list the items, and the price of each items, from each server. All FFXIAH.com does is to simply scan the game's Auction house history, and each items, and list it. There can't be any player interaction with it other than just...listing it, and it is stored on the site. The game does much more than that, and requires much more work than that.

I can't even remember what this thread was originally about. And we're only on page 5....

Anyway, point is, it was impressive that he did that in 5 hours. Yes, it's not a fully functioning AH but he did THAT in 5 hours. Like I previously said, not even a full day at the office in Japan. (Or majority of the world).
All I'm saying is... it's taking unexpectedly long. That's all. Not just talking about the AH, but everything in general. I know they aren't gods so things can't just happen. But in my opinion, their focus is sort of... in the wrong direction. I mean all this talk about jumping? If that's what SE is going to focus on.... when so much other more important things need work? really...
I guess we have to take into consideration the natural disasters in Japan though. We can't deny it, but that WILL and HAS effected the development, I'm sure.

You realize why they haven't released one yet?

First of all, they have other things to work on, any delay what-so-ever is frowned upon, especially by all the babies we have on the forums.

Secondly, We have something similar to an AH called the Market Wards. Yes and we do realize that it is not an AH, but holy crap people! Hold your horses!

Its crap like this that is holding them back because they now have to analyze what they should and shouldn't implement. If we all took a break from complaining about the same thing over and over again, maybe they'd have more time to get something done rather than listen to a bunch of bickering.

Like I said, wasn't just talking about the AH. In fact, that's of low importance to me. Couldn't really care less. I quite like the market wards, and I probably prefer it over the AH anyway. I haven't said anything that I believe can count as complaining. I simply said that it's taking unexpectedly long but that there are other things that factor into the time line. And the example I gave was the natural disasters in Japan.
