I've forgotten about inboxes completely. Do we really need them?

Looking back I think my inbox was more of a habit and addiction than a good thing.

So in XI this is how my inbox life pretty much went.
Check to see if it had gil.
Crap it's got 5 weaving mats in it who the...
    Take two weaving products out.
Crap I'm out of inventory room.
Cancel cancel cancel. Trash the top 9 worthless things from inventory. There that feels much better look at all that space now.
Thank the person who sent the weaving mats.
Pull the other three weaving mats out of the inbox.
There's some gi...geez the boxes are full of gil.
    Take the gil. Frikkin sweet.
Refresh the inbox. Why's it always that your last delivery lands on the last box so you refresh it hoping for a lot of new presents and there's nothing! So disappointing.
Now I'm disappointed even after getting a ton of free stuff and lots of gil because the encounter ended on a disappointing note of an empty inbox.
Send 3 items to myself because I'm now using my inbox for a storage place even though I know it's just going to cause me more work to manage that mess in the future.
Wait wait wait. Cancel that and send a bunch of people stuff I don't want. Look at all that inventory NOW hahaha suckers enjoy your quad backplates! How the heck did you even get those...

I gotta say I don't really care if I get an inbox any more.
I suppose they'd be nice...are we getting them?

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

I think the only reason why we had such limited inbox feature in FFXI (8 visible items capacity) is due to PS2 limitation as SE developers had explained before. I personally would like a delivery box system for FFXIV as well, because as it stands, there's no way to send other players items without waiting for them to be online, let alone sending stuff between characters in your own account.

Inbox was as much of a pain in my rear as it was useful was what I'm going for.
If I had a delivery box now, I'd pretty much use it to stuff incidental vegetables and grasses into the culinarian and weavers' inboxes with or without their permission just to see if they'd go away.

I think sooner or later, and this may be a sooner thing since it'd not be too hard adn they're looking for easy things to roll out while we're waiting on the big overhauls...it'll happen.

Guess just give the retainers a new tab of reception and have them do it. Should be pretty easy.

You're right, the FFXI mail system was poorly implemented.

Do I want a mail delivery system that replicates what they did in XI? No.

Will I settle for it, if it's that or nothing? You betcha.

Until possibly some form of "LS Bank" is introduced where people can unload unwanted materials for others to use (rather than throwing them away or selling them to vendor) I would love the idea of a delivery box again. Actually having to physically find people in game and stand next to them in order to trade items is a huge pain.

Wouldn't it be great if you could send items to be repaired to certain friends and crafters with a reward attached, and then have their "repair" delivery box send it right back when they had fixed it for you?!
Maybe I'm just being lazy <.< But, like a lot of people I don't leave my character logged in overnight so I have to try and catch repairs that I can't do myself while I'm running around trying to do other stuff. Just a thought....
