ffxi vet here to. I read everything you wrote. And everytime you say something you refer to WoW. I never mentioned it. You also are acting like I'm a casual player, which is again not true. And the reason why your being a bit rude is you can't look past yourself. You want to chase any casual player away like they have the plague.

Start looking beyond yourself. People have time limitation for various reasons. Which I got ffxi, I ended up getting hit with a 2hr time limit. I had to not only share the ps2 with my younger brother, but i also got forced to share my ffxi account with him. My parents were also under the impression 2 hours is more then enoygh time to play a game.

I loved ffxi minus the needless time consuming parts. After i was able to get a ps2 and my own wireless router and the means to use it on my ps2. I had more play time. I also spent most of my play time doing nothing but waiting. Waiting to get missions done, waiting to get a party, waiting to form a party, waiting till people gathered.

ffxi has been slowly lossing mebers since WoW lauched. It is not getting major influxes of players. Which is why it is flawed. MMo can't last like that. They need a steady influx to keep servers from getting stale. Which is why most mmo are going for the larger audience and not the nitch one ffxi entered. Was ffxi a bad game, no. Just not a super popular one. Which is why its not doing so good, and starting to tone down the time consuming bits so more ppl will want to buy it.

Which is why ffxiv was advertised as a casual friendly game, they want a better/ stronger player base. Which is a smart idea.

I welcome anything (minus solo only) that will bring in more players to an ff mmo as they will making hunting for groups easier.

when XIV came out I was having a solo streak in XI so I argued for the game to be soloable. I don't think that was the right mind set. I want casual content and the option of hardcore content. Having levequests and behest is a great example. using these methods I can level on my own if I wish but there is the option to team up with 3 other people or 7 if I chose.

as for quests there's no reason there can't be easy ones and hard ones. in other MMOs there are quests that have suggested player size and some you can solo. This is another thing that can meet both play styles. main story is where some will but head. I don't think I'll see the main story in XI because I can't find people to do it or there are people who can but don't want to go through it again.

right now you can solo through the storyline and I'm sure they'll add harder missions along the way but maybe add a difficulty system so you can go in a smaller group. these are my ideas and I hope they help the game in some way.

    casual don't mean solo
    hard don't mean party
casual player don't mean they enjoy soloing.
hardcore don't mean they enjoy partying.
easy don't always mean less time consuming
hard don't always mean time consuming.

that is the truth. I played what I considered hard games w/o large time consuming game play.
I also played easy games that were very time consuming.

Effort is not always how much time you put into something, it is the "work" you put into it.

I was by deffinition a casual ffxi player. I didn't take the game to seriously. In my furst year I only played for 2 hours but Untill the higher levels I still got a few parties. (since there was so many players getting a party was faster).
A game don't need to be time consuming to be hard. And trust me i play tons of different games. fps, hack and slash, rpg, mmorpg, adventure, action, Fighter, sports.

I'm not asking for a solo game. Just one that is more welcoming to any time limit.

no player who wants to play should be left out of content because of a time limit they may not have had when buying a game.
