    [sugestion] AUTO ATTACK mechanics

I KNOW THERE ARE A LOT OF THIS POSTS and...

I know SE dev team had a very serious tought when they were planning to add auto attack to FFXIV, but just to be sure i just wanted to say a few things about it.

First of all, i like the current system at some point im gonna just put one thing that i like to be quick with this post, this issue has effect on all melee classes:

The thing that i like most of this system is that i can do whatever i like when i want, if im in a fight and want to use multishot and stack 3 arrows, then use buffing abbilities before i attack, then wait till theyre done with Battle regimen so i can shoot the mob when it has defense down status, I CAN.

The thing that im worry about is that if they implement auto attack you have to give your back to the mob as in FF XI because you had the normal attack in your way all the time, as an archer i dont know if theyre gonna do autoattack with light shots, but as melee class like pugilist i can see that happening.

Pugilist for example will be hitting fast (so they say will be a lot faster than FF XI) so when you make a buff it might get the normal attack in your way, before you can set another buff or use a weaponskill. I know that they already have a solution (being positive) the feedback here would be if they can make autoattack to be SET ON and OFF easily like if you hit the light strike key would make auto attack to start then when you use a buff on yourself the auto attack is set off, that way you can keep buffing yourself and make the weaponskill when you're ready and with that i guess we'll have the best of both worlds in my op.

Please feel free to troll around, and share any toughts you might have.

They'll probably just scale damage like other games do. So realistically, the fact that you can auto-attack will really have no real effect aside from feeding yourself TP or activating some sort of passive ability should they decide to add that later on.

Not sure I understand your concerns?

Are you sayingt that, to take your exemple, the PUG would use a buff to say "increase damage of the next attack" and that that buff would be consumed by the auto-attack? Is that your concern? If it is.. then there is no reason why they cannot make the buffs that affect the next attack not applicable to auto-attack and by doing so not consumed by them.

Did I get it right or I missed your point?

you can make buffs not work on the next attack, but sometimes you actually want it on the next attack. like if you dont have tp, but need a bloodweapon hit now, you can do that.

They'll need to make it so that you can still maintain TP even if you're not attacking the mob, since going into passive mode in the current system drains your TP even more than if you stay in active mode.

There's a way to manage that now with manual attacks and active/passive, but that will change with auto-attack.

In FF XI you had berserk as buff so even if you had it on, the auto attack wouldnt consume that, that could work making buffs to be effective for a certain period of time improving normal attacks, but well as an archer i pause my attacks and move around to get the best attack possible, what im saying is that the current system as it is now, we have the freedom to loose the abbility or weaponskill we want, im not the type of ppl that smash 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 2 1 1 1 4, i use a lot of skills while fighting, so if theyre leaving the abbilities as they are just adding auto attack, it would be a mess.

But then again as you said having for example raging strike, ferocity, blindside working with a timer would be even much better, for archers i dont think they'll have much trouble they can even change multishot and trifurcate to be fired with 3 stacked arrows when pressing the key button just like quicknock, idk im hoping the best for autoattack.
