Concerns about new character creation restrictions

Thanks for the replies guys. 2-3 weeks is tolerable for me to wait for transfer. But in another of my thread someone mentioned legacy players are locked for 6 months before they can transfer server so as not to damage the economy of new servers by bringing in a legacy players with huge amount of gil and items. Is this true?

Legacy character transfers are tentatively set for 6 months after launch, but the devs are simply telling us to wait for more solid information on that.
