Concerns about new character creation restrictions

I have been heavily promoting my friends to try and join this game but several of them were unable to join my server during the open beta due to congestion issues. Is there going to be some guarantee that I will be able to get my friends on the same server? Perhaps there can be a way to "invite" a limited number of friends to create characters on the same server. If not will there be a program for free server transfers after a set period so that friends can at least find a server to call home together?

I am in the same boat as you. My friends who were actually the one who convinced me to play this game during 1.0, but didn't ironically, now is serious in playing this 2.0 version. But since I'm legacy I'm already in Masamune server which is very congested thus they were unable to create characters in Masamune during the open beta phase 4. Am also curious if Masamune server will be open a bit during early launch since they did pre-order. I also now the servers are are actually not really full but rather SE decided to limit it during phase 4 to encourage the spreading of populations to newer servers. Hoping for a positive answer to this :-)

If you are not able to get on same server at initial launch from congestion get your friend to wait a few hrs and try again. If your server got locked during Phase 4 there is a pretty solid chance it will be restricted again.

Please keep your hopes up. I invited my brother to play during P4 and the character creation was closed on Sarg for the first day... but then the second day it opened. It can be tough to wait though.

I had to have mine and my partner's computers boot up and get through each process of character creation at the same time to be able to get on the same server. It was a shame that no EU servers were available at the time.

If you are Legacy wishing for your friends to be able to play then I doubt they will be able to enter on Legacy servers for the moment(?). If your friends are not able to enter straight away, then give them a few minutes/hours. They will eventually be able to log in and create a character. The Queue system is now implimented and should be working correctly. So they should have no problem in logging in after creating a character, given that they wait until they have queued to enter the server.

Being a 1.0 mook I ended up in a JP legacy server somehow and not wanting to go through the character/story process again I am just going to wait for the transfer to a NA server.

Would be nice to be able to view the server population via a website or when creating the character, so that we know if there is enough room for our friends.

The restrictions are lifted off and on and your friends can register in the times they lift it. Mainly, they don't want to congest the starting areas so that it becomes unplayable, so none of the restrictions are permanent. If you have the patience, you and your friends will be able to get on the same server to play together eventually.

If you and your friends somehow started on separate servers, server transfers will be implemented for new players 2-3 weeks after launch. Whether that transfer is free or at a cost is unknown.

Thanks for the replies guys. 2-3 weeks is tolerable for me to wait for transfer. But in another of my thread someone mentioned legacy players are locked for 6 months before they can transfer server so as not to damage the economy of new servers by bringing in a legacy players with huge amount of gil and items. Is this true?
