Will crossfire for AMD be available at launch or when?
Will crossfire for AMD be available at launch or when?
I'm not sure if it's enabled already. I have a ati 6990 with precision x installed. I use OSD and I can see the 2nd processor GPU running on par with the 1st GPU in terms of processing utilization. Does this meant CF is already running??
Open up catalyst, go to gaming, click on 3D application settings, click add, now look for the FFxiv.exe and add it in. NOW click on FFXIV.exe and scroll down until you see CrossFireX Mode, then tell it to use an AMD pre-defined profile and select SWTOR (I say SWTOR because I don't trust the beta drivers for it yet.)

You have to set it up in catalyst in order for it to work.

I did that but it only gave me a boost of up to 5 fps during phase 4 in game=/ On the startup screen where you click start it goes up to 60fps (limit I put it on) from 44fps, but in game there is barely anything. Plus there is some gittering every now and then in game for me. For the ffxiv.exe link, can I use the one I put on my desktop that I always use or is it somewhere else? It would be nice if SE just made their own profile and updated it for AMD drivers.

Last phase it worked for me, but it had troubles with the lighting. Kept flickering.
7870 x 2
can't say i have tried the game with 13.8 beta 2 yet but i hope it works
13.8 beta2 driver adds crossfire support for FFXIV, if you install the beta2 driver you won't need to setup your own profile, it also seems to improve performance a bit for single GPU.
Thanks I'll install that then!
Edit: I always had this issue but just wanted to double check. When I click on more information on the beta drivers, it gives me two links to download from:
AMD Catalyst™ 13.8 Beta2 for Windows®
AMD Mobility Catalyst™ 13.8 Beta2 for Windows®
Is there a difference between the two?
Also am I suppose to see the change in my driver version number even if it's beta?

Yeah, you'll definitely want to get the 13.8 beta2 drivers for FFXIV
Mobility drivers are for laptops/notebooks. If you have a desktop PC download the non-mobility drivers.
Addition: Before installing the new drivers it's always a good idea to uninstall all your old AMD display drivers and CAP profiles...
Your drivers detailed version number should change with the new drivers, even if they are betas.
