Is the release code region locked?

Hello,

I ordered from Greenmangaming and the 18 digit code I received gave me a 20 digit region locked (EU) code for early access.

I am wondering if GMG will send me a region locked release code when the time comes.

I have already opened a ticket with them and they told me to e-mail Square-Enix support.

Yes retail codes are region locked, i suggest you confirm what region your getting. While codes are region locked, servers are not so once you have an account, you can play on any server.

I registered my code through both the EU site and NA site even though the code GreenManGaming gave me was supposedly EU. I have sent a ticket to Square just making sure but it seems as if my code worked for both. Hopefully I can still get early access . GreenmanGaming from my understanding ONLY gave out EU codes and they sent a email to all buyers that square confirmed these are the right region's and codes. It doesn't even say on the purchase page what region of a code you are getting which is completely stupid.

There is nothing there that indicates if it's NA or EU. This is very misleading. This is so damn stupid.

If you have the wrong region early access code, just re-enter the 18 digit code into the right region site and it should give you the right region code.

NA: preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com
EU: preorder.eu.finalfantasyxiv.com

This worked for a lot of people who got the wrong code on the beta forums, they simply went through the process using the right site and got the new code. While i can't guarantee it will work, i suggest you give it a try.

I was able to register my 18-digit GMG pre-order code on my NA account through the EU website (it was what GMG said to use via their email) and received a 20-digit NA activation key in return. I've read about the 'invalid region' thing, but in the end I don't really think it matters which website you use.

I'm sorry to hear that; if people still can't get the right region code, its best to contact SE support. Also for those who got a 20 digit code, keep in mind that if your code starts with RAAU its NA and i think RAAE is EU.
