Let's open with something that we all knew was coming, and we'll go from there:

A LITTLE HISTORY

VeranRamaden started the original memes thread, FFXIV Meme's, to be a thread full of blank, FFXIV-related templates that we could use to express a variety of funny situations. Every now and then, one of these legitimate "meme" attempts would pop up, but the fact that, no matter how hard anybody tried, the thread always became an image dump of all FFXIV-related attempts at humor became part of the joke. For some of us, the forums just wouldn't be the forums without a never-ending waterfall of not-that-funny with the occasional hilarity bomb. Likewise, this tumbling catastrophe just wouldn't feel right named anything else. It's just "the memes thread," for better or worse.

That, in and of itself, is a running joke in this forum and it's progenitor thread. No matter how hard you try to return it to blank templates that can be used to make similar jokes in different contexts, it always comes back to being in image dump for any Final Fantasy XIV related humor attempts. It's kind of like how a lot of people don't understand the difference between a reference, an in-joke, and an easter egg.

The meme thread has always been more of a funny FFXIV image related thread. It doesn't really matters, as long as we get a good laugh out of it.

I am sad to say I do not know what that is. My first name was very hard to pronounce, no one ever got it right; so it became kind of a joke with myself that I could choose to remain anonymous and people would still mispronounce my name. So, as far as FFXIV is concerned, that's exactly what happened. I told Baderon I'd like to be listed as Anonymous, and he's been introducing me by this name to everyone in Limsa ever since.

Exactly, so enough of the 'this isn't how such and such is done'! Leave such semantics behind in the... 'other forum' that is now gone.

Anyway, reposting some of my old image macro memes from the original meme thread on the old forum (incidentally, I noticed someone actually made one the second one into their sig on the Beta forum! I feel honoured! ) :
