Forum posting restrictions

Isn't it about time you guys got rid of these restrictions? The game is launched, more than 2 weeks in, and people still cant really discuss anything with one another due to these restrictions. You guys should be lucky people are even still using these forums at all, only by the lack of imparted knowledge of places to go with no retarded restrictions to discuss FFXIV:ARR. I end up having to reply in edits because of this crap.

Of course, I'm betting you guys want everyone to just shutup right now right, starting at before the game entered early access.

Why is there even a restriction? why are there limits? why can't I go over 1000 characters? writ an epic thread of 3000 characters but I need to reduce it to 1000... thats not possible. Oh well seems they don't want constructive feedback...

I don't like to complain, but these forum restrictions are really trying my patience. I think I know how to help somebody with a problem over in General Discussion, but I can't post because I've reached my daily limit - nevermind the fact that, aside from now, I have not yet made any posts today. I feel like a surgeon standing over a dying patient, but can't operate because I've used my daily allowance of scalpels. Please, please, consider at least relaxing the restrictions. I can understand why they are in place, but as it stands they are only hurting the people who want to make a genuine contribution to the community.


edit: Oh good, I was just now able to post in General. I'm not sure why it wouldn't work a half-hour ago, but it only illustrates how frustrating these restrictions are.

I've never been in any forum, gaming or otherwise, that had a daily posting limit. And I've never even HEARD of a character limit as absurdly short as 1,000 characters. Get rid of these stupid restrictions.

I feel insulted, Square. That's what it comes down to. You make it seem as if my opinion is less wanted than that of someone who is lvl 50. So I'm being punished for taking my time, and not getting to 50 fast? Really?
This is the most ridiculous thing I've seen in quite some time, and it's about time we got rid of it!

Not intended to bump, but because I only just realized these restrictions are in place.

After using internet forums for 20 years (lived through the wild west days of the old bnet forums in their first incarnation hohoho) I can kiiiind of see the intentions behind the restrictions. Similar to how I can kiiiiind of see something a mile down the road.

But these restrictions are ludicrous. I have never encountered them on any forum I've been to.

I totally agree with OP. The 1000 chars for a post in english is absurd.

I post on forums not too often but when I do I try to make a decent write ups where people do exactly understand what I meant to say to prevent silly questions and trolling.
I often try to write my reasonings for people to understand me even better. This is a forum where we do discuss things and not a twitter where you don't want to read through walls of text cause you have to read them all.

IMO limiting people in this way only hurts community. And it will definitely not beneficial for a forum storage database cause people WILL write their thoughts but probably will split them into several posts.

BTW there was not a single post from me that I could fit into 1000 chars. Posts like "ok" of other 1-word posts are actually useless in terms of discussion.
