Forum posting restrictions

I see this excuse a lot from people, but here's the thing, about 1% of traffic to the forums will be actual posts, most is people requesting pages (refreshing, opening the forums etc) therefore these restrictions alone have very little impact (look at the beta forums, they were inaccessible a lot due to congestion, with these restrictions) also the forums are hosted on a different server (possibly at a different location) when the forums are inaccessible it's only the forums that are affected, therefore it doesn't matter how much server usage is allocated to what unless they are going to swap chips between servers, and possibly even datacenters.

I was going to create a new thread today, but decided against it as the message I was trying to convey was completely destroyed by the character limit. 1000 characters is ridiculous! Please ease these restrictions! Also, how did the OP get so many characters in the original post?

As a member of the community and as an individual, I feel insulted by the posting restrictions. The level I have on my character in game has zero relevance to the value and validity of my thoughts and words in the community. The restrictions are especially discriminating against slow levelers/casual gamers.
Furthermore, the posting restrictions discourage healthy discussion, and thus community building.

I agree that the creation of new threads should be limited in order to keep the forums accessible (though the limits are currently too harsh), but the current restrictions for posting responses are unacceptable. If there have to be limits for pragmatic reasons, they should be based solely on forum activity and membership. Example: the ability to make new threads is locked until the poster has both been a forum member for more than 3 days and made a minimum 10 posts. (Obviously such rules can not apply to the New Player Help forum.)

Until the restrictions are either lifted, or loosened and based on reasonable community-based criteria, I can not consider myself (and most of my friends, who take their time playing this game) welcomed and valued in this forum and by this team.

Nice to see the restrictions are working so well, I have seen troll posts galore, troll threads dupe threads etc, moderation > destroying the community any day.

I have a question, as I can not start a topic. I got a key for early access, I accessed my level 20 character from the beta, couldn't get on for 2 days because world is full. I just received another key in my email...this one for Collector's Edition...wait...I thought the last key I received was a collector's edition? So I added the code on Mog Station, to see that I transferred my level 20 character to a Standard Key. How come I received a Standard Key and Collector's Edition Key separately, thus preventing me from accessing my Beta character & 2 Legacy Characters? This is not what I paid for. I'd really like some help in resolving this issue. Will they transfer my characters from my standard account over to my second account that's collector's?

These restrictions need to be rethought. More accurately, they either need to be removed or characters should auto-update and raise your cap here as your level increases in game. I still think any restriction after 20-25 is a dumb idea.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that the restrictions make the forums unwelcoming, I'd assume most Official Forums are meant to foster a community instead of alienate new users from veterans.

To OP & SE:

I do not like the restrictions at all.

Character limit I can understand. But just know if you do not allow for larger posts, players are going to go else where for information (such as meaningful guides).

I feel a 5 min waiting time in between new posts is more than a enough. Replies and Creation.

I think if you are actually paying for the game on a monthly basis you should be allowed to create a thread.

Specifically to SE:

By restricting what players can say on your forums you are restricting the information they can exchange with one another. And if they can't get it from here, they will go to some other website.

By restricting the creation of threads, you are encouraging frustrated player to make replies to posts that have nothing to do with their issue.

Also, you're restrictions are off, there are threads, like technical support, that new players should be able to post in but still can not.

These restrictions are the stupidest thing I have ever seen on any official game forum.
I have to level my character up so I can post....?!

I can deal with the 1000 character limit, that's easily enough to work around. But when I want to post or reply to the community on something, and I get a message saying my new character isn't "high enough level" to post anything, it makes absolutely no sense.
Luckily I have a 1.0 character I can use as my "main" to allow me to post on these forums, but holy hell level restrictions on forum posts is beyond ridiculous. Especially at times like this when half the people are having trouble even logging into the game.

Time restriction between posts is also an unnecessary restriction. As if that's going to help control anything other than wasting people's time. I just want to post a couple replies then I log out of the forums. Why do I have to kill time to reply...??
