Okay, so in order to make a thread asking for feedback on a good rp world to join that is NOT currently full and locking out new or returning players, I'm going to need to grind a character to mid level... why am I bothering to return to a Squenix game again? They messed the 1.0 up so much that the person in charge of it wrote a letter of apology to everyone that bought the game! And now I come back, thinking "why not, everyone is saying they love this game" and in order to get help, I need to be halfway done with the game...

That explains why thee forums are so dead. Those restrictions are insane.

Necroing this pretty hard, but we're now 4 years and about to be two expansions in and these ridiculous restrictions are still in place?

Indeed they are as far as I can see.

There's a reason no legitimate forum restricts posting, it goes against the entire purpose of a forum. If you're concerned about spam or other unwanted things, then recruit a damn moderation team. Costs you nothing but the initial time investment of assigning the proper permissions and tools to the people you recruit, as moderation is almost universally a volunteer job.

Please don't let this fade back into obscurity. It'd be wonderful if the posting restrictions could be lightened or lifted entirely.

If only there was more than just one or two people actually fighting for this, we might stand a chance of seeing change.

If they can bother assigning a poor overall quality of GMs in-game (many who don't even play) on NA servers, idk what's so wrong with recruiting some forum mods. I understand the desire to remain professional-ish, but especially when answering a new player's questions (who has to be level 30(?) to post a topic?), 1000 characters isn't enough. Now with SB, XIV is a big game. New players have a LOT of question bc when you're first starting out there's a LOT of crucial information to make the game easier (unlocking companion to help solo content, unlocking challenge log, encouragement to do roulette, some people didn't even know about job crystals, GC turn-ins and seals, etc). Post limits and character limits restricts the ability to ask and answer these questions. It's no wonder the forums are so dead, yet they want all our feedback through the forums?

    • The 1000 characters limit is absurd. Period. This is a forum, and forums generally are not a glorified version of Twitter. If we consider that quotes from other posts count towards this, it makes a discussion very much impossible.
Not much to add to this. I can't believe such restrictions are still a thing. What good is feedback if 4 years worth of it doesn't make a company reconsider their policies?

This is probably among the worst forum systems I have seen. 1000 character limit is ridiculously small for something meant to be a community communication hub. COMMUNICATION being the key word and something I feel SE doesn't do a good enough job of already.
