That's also very possible. 1.0 made him out to be a bit of a guilt-ridden manchild looking for his place in the world, to begin with. This was especially highlighted by the "adoptive" father/son relationship with Gaius that was a dialed back a bit in English, but clearly hinted at when they were arguing in "Alive." If that's the case, though, I'd be a little disappointed in him. He fled the Empire to make his own choices and was finally becoming who he really was. To think that he remembered everything and chose not to help Eorzea any longer... /sulk
