Balmung represent!

I have heard from a few folks that this is the unofficial RP server. Is that true? I have never really been into role playing in mmo's but as long as its not like EVERYONE doing it then ill prolly stick with this server. Otherwise i was weighing out rerolling on Gilgamesh. I only got to like 18 CNJ so wouldnt be hard to grind that back up.

I heard that too, but during the beta, I only saw RP once. So far so good, I'm not big on it either, but I haven't ran into an overwhelming amount on the server. I think you're safe to roll on it if you choose lol.

Heya! Yeah. FFXIV's Unnoficial RP server has been Balmung since 1.0. Majority of the RPers are also heavy into their endgame and prioritise the game first. It's kinda cool, actually, as there's been this great little balance between RPers and non-RPers that you don't normally see in MMO's. During 1.0, at least, the RPers never really caused problems from those dedicated to the game itself, and those dedicated to the game itself never really had problems with the RPers. I think it's why I like and wanna stick with Balmung so much.

As an RPer I want to say thank you for saying this. I think RPers get a bad rep because people think that we're only there for one or two things. This community isn't like that at all. We supplement our playing of the game with RP, but for a lot of us, it's still about the game~

Hello Balmung ! again like some other people here i rolled on this server to be with friends (that did not know it was unofficial rp server) has they are non-rpers they were thinking of moving NOT cause they have something against rpers but mostly due to economies , group and other bad experience they got in the past with rp server , i still hope that both can live in harmony cause personally i love rp !! and don't wanna be alone Q_Q cause my manly friend don't wanna stay and i am looking forward to see how the server will work this out !

I mainly heard of it from Hydaelyn Role-Players, but other communities have been also saying that Balmung is the Unofficial Legacy RP server and Gilgamesh is the unofficial nonlegacy. But it seems like Gilgamesh will have a bit of everything, it's the Reddit server, LGBT Nonlegacy server, Something Awful's choice in nonlegacy server, and Bluegatr. I've also heard that Balmung is Something Awful's and Allakhazam's EST legacy server.

Edit: Can't post more cause I exceeded my post limit. ;-; But I agree with everything @AdmiralSnackbar said. The community is very welcoming and open to all types!

Also, to the above posters, Balmung was picked by a few communities to be the RP server, but you're really in no danger. We don't march down the streets in jackboots demanding you adhere to our rules. Least...not normal RPers.

Just expect to see some in-character names and maybe some talking in /say. If you don't want to partake, no harm or foul!

Sweet! I have nothing against RP, it doesn't bother me at all. I just don't think I'd partake in it. I don't think anyone should feel deterred to play on a server because of that, and I think the variety will make it more fun

I transferred from rag since all my friends were already here. Didn't even realize this was a unoffical RP server until i started reading people talk about it in game. It's all good I probably won't participate but it will certainly make the server more interesting to me

I can already tell this server is going to be fantastic. You guys rock.
