Goons do not need a threat dump they cannot do enough damage to pull aggro off a tank...I've seen high lv BRD streams and a youtube video displaying BRD single damage rotation doesn't change at all but getting Windbite at mid 30s. AoE is a bit different and they also have a nice debuff but I just find the class boring to play in dungeons.
A lot of people are under estimating what a Dragoon actually brings to groups. Amazing burst damage for target switching, the slow debuff(think other classes bring this as well), threat drop move so threat isn't a huge issue, 2 set of stuns(not that great since most bosses are immune let game), and solid AOE damage. I think the Piercing debuff may also give extra dmg to BRD. If SE changes jump to make Dragoon immune/avoid to dmg while they jump and they will be great.
and their AoE is weak next to Black Mage and Bards... the ONLY thing a goon brings to a group is the single target limit break.
Drgs are consistent and have the highest burst damage potential. They can take more then a few hits. Generic would be the phrase for Drg.
As oppose to mnk, which is more party reliant, but brings more to the table.
You're going to need a melee member. There' no getting around that.
Trying to armchair your way drgs aren't needed is to armchair your way breakfast isn't needed. It's an unhealthy idea in the end.
There's a decent balance currently that everyone has a fairly equal chance.

lmfao you should play with better drgs... just a thought

Surprised with how many opinions and situational examples there are with close to no actual numbers. i know level ranges a good bit now as well as im sure gear comes into play, but saying monk > dragoon dps means little for balance if its like .1% higher. however if its like 200% higher then even bringing a great player as opposed to the good one, chances are the monk would be brought. some sort of numbers would be nice. if those at 50 have any free time for something standard like a 3-5 min dps test against a set level 50 dummy or somthing.
i know ill definately spend a good bit of time on the dummy when i get 50, i plan to try to iron out the damage/crit formula and the like.
We do have the numbers there are a few parsers out there and people are using them. I killed Garuda Hard mode last night and parsed to to see the numbers. So people have them.Surprised with how many opinions and situational examples there are with close to no actual numbers. i know level ranges a good bit now as well as im sure gear comes into play, but saying monk > dragoon dps means little for balance if its like .1% higher. however if its like 200% higher then even bringing a great player as opposed to the good one, chances are the monk would be brought. some sort of numbers would be nice. if those at 50 have any free time for something standard like a 3-5 min dps test against a set level 50 dummy or somthing.
