From what I've experienced at lower levels, it seems like Archer is consistently the highest dps, at least until 20. I have no first hand experience with anything above the level cap, but I know in P3 at level 26 my Pugilist didn't seem to be doing a whole lot of damage (and yes I know to move to back and side and keep twin snakes up) compared to archer. They just do a lot of damage early on, so if you're looking for an easy class for early game, definitely go with that, though honestly, it's not gonna affect your queue times.

From reading what the high level players have stated in this forum, I'm actually really excited to get Monk now, and it's given me a renewed spirit to actually level my Pugilist, which I had pretty much given up on (my MRD at level 15 is almost doing more damage.) Thanks for the info on level 50 fights guys! I really appreciate the insight.

All pets cause main job to be NERF'd that is why DRG doesn't have a wyvern. In FFXI the DRG was so unbalanced because of the pet.

Minions in this game have no purpose ... so I can See DRG getting a Wyvern Minion soon. But not a PET the Hard Core fans won't stand for another NERF'd DRG.

So.. that being said SMN will be NERF'd

Would need good parses to tell really, and even then it can be situation. I can tell you that Monk is sure a lot more complicated then Dragoon is though to play. XD

Granted I'm only level 34, but I seem to outdamage everyone as archer, I have to wait a little while before attacking otherwise the tank has a hard time taking agro back, that and if the tank dies I tend to kite the boss on my own, aslong as it's not ranged.

I am enjoying playing a Thaumaturge, its good to have a good tank to have with you and you do double damage. I also played as a Arcanist, and had fun having a pet, but its takes some getting used to with the control aspect. But I am still trying to figure out what job I am going to end up being.

Honestly, I'd still favor my Monk over the other classes. As long as you properly cycle between stacking your skills and dots, you should not have any reason to suffer from TP loss as much as others might think this to be so. Even as far as Titan Hard, I've only ever had the issue of hitting my bottom TP with a few bosses in my run, but that was primarily due to the extreme consistency of my attacks I had been allowed before the boss would break off in some way.

The Black Mage is better in DPS for aoe consistency. They are a reliable damage dealer for many battle situations (e.g. - Add spawn or the like), as is the monk for dependance on single target damage (e.g. - bosses), and so forth. To truth be told, all damage dealers are good dealers. But they all have their pros and cons to promote the battle field in their own way.

Until people see 50 smn in action, BLM. Pugilist would be a close second tho.

I see mostly answers from low level people in this thread, and wonder if any high levels did any lvl50 testing as I did.

As a 50, I can say @ 50 it will be blm, mnk, brd, drg. Currently unknown where to place smn, but it might be before or after mnk. you will not see the power of thm before lvl40, and the true power at lvl 46 when you have all your highest damage spells available. before 40, it only has a measly 10% damage increase, can only get up to 2 stacks of astral fire, and fire III is a waste of MP and not worth casting for its cast time and MP cost, even when under umbral ice, UNTIL you can have umbral ice III, @lvl40. It deceives you into believing it is a weak class and other classes are better or close to it, but you need to level it up to see the truth.

Misconceptions also constantly arise about how BLM does its damage. it is NOT a burst dps. Its main attack can be used at the same speed as any melee dps, 2.5 seconds in between 400+ damage fire I's @50. IF and only IF they change it so that recast time starts after the spell actually gets cast, then they will become burst DPS. It also has the easiest rotation that does not even need cooldowns or require applications of damage increasing buffs to do this damage, and the buffs from its astral fire stack on top of its maim and mend traits making fire do extreme damage for the intervals between fire I's you can do, including the instant manaless fire III chances.
