Best DPS class in the game?

No, but let's also look at all the damage+ buffs Dragoon can have up.
Blood for Blood for 30% damage increase. (20sec duration 80sec recast)
Raging Strikes for 20% damage increase. (20sec duration 180sec recast)
Heavy Thrust for 10% damage increase (Weapon Skill; duration 15secs with class trait)
Life Surge grants an auto-crit and restores HP by 10% of the max HP.

As far as mage DPS, I'd have to go with Black Mage. At least til we see what numbers Summoner can pump out.

Dragoon doesn't have Raging strikes anymore. Unless they changed it back.

And if you want to go on damage+ buffs brd shines.

20% from trait.
20% Raging strike
20% from blood for blood.
10% crit from straight shot
20% crit from Internal release.
15% dex from Hawk Eye (60Dex @ 400)

but in phase 3 it was mnk >drg >blm > brd.

Don't think anyone really got around to testing the changes in phase 4 though.

did arc/brd got access to DPS limit break ? If not , none of you can say its the best dps...

and a brd need to cast song to be party effective, thus reducing his dmg output

That 20% damage reduction from Ballad/Paeon isn't too bad actually. And if you're using Paeon, it's converting your MP into TP which would make it last longer in a fight.

Yea that's correct Dragoon lost all the priviliges of using any Archer Cross Class Skills. He gained Marauder as Cross Class Subclass.

I think it's 30%. 10% more damage at level 20 and 20% more damage at lvl 40.
And let's not forget Barrage which cooldown got reduced by half from 180 secs to 90 secs.
River of Blood got revamped and now has a 50% chance to reset the cooldown of Bloodletter through critical hits of Windbite / Venomous Bite.

The best dps is going to be the class/job you will enjoy playing the most throughout a game that hopefully you'll take a minute not worrying too much about having the highest #s and just have fun playing. I pay attention to stats as much as the next guy but if i wanna be a dragoon simply cuz theyre awesome then thats what im gonna do.

It reduced the amount of significant variables to the point where class damage mechanics was the only thing left to compare. So, again, answer the question properly guys. the BLM that gets lucky thundercloud/firestarter procs is the best

conversely the BLM that gets unlucky thundercloud/firestarter procs is the worst

but, you asked about potential, and the proc based class has the highest potential

doesn't mean they're going to be top every time, does mean that on their best day no other DPS will come close though
