Greetings everyone,
I know a few of you are familiar with the World of Warcraft queuing system, in where players would queue for what specific role they would be using during dungeons and end-game content. As I am not a huge fan of World of Warcraft, this was an extra helpful, and very easy system to use. Something like this could be implemented into the game to help players who may have cross-classed there job, and are vaguely unsure what role they would fit into. By simply assessing what role they would like to play, they can queue for that role, and everyone else within the group can be sure they know what they are responsible for.
The current party formation system in the game, is actually very well put together. I wish more people would learn, or feel the need to use it. A simple addition of the role queuing feature to this already great system, could make it even easier for players to seek/invite players.
An example would be
"X" player- Marauder wanting to tank.
"Y" party- Looking for tank.
Normally here in this situation a marauder would only fit under the "DD" role in most cases, but because this specific player has cross-classed, and set his character up to be a marauder tank, he can easily queue for this role.
(This is an easy example to give you an idea of what I'm talking about^^^)
Without the role queuing feature in this situation, the Marauder may have never had the opportunity to fully express he WANTED to play a tank.
This could easily be the story with a PUG(eva tank) or Damage oriented Gla.
With the upcoming release of group content, such as dungeons and large scale PVE, this system could make it much easier, and faster for players to determine what role is available within an existing party, and what role they are queuing for.
-Expanding on this idea, the search feature.
It has been noted that a possible search feature is in the works. With the ability to identify what role your class is, players searching for a tank can easily view and sort through players who have queued themselves as a Tank.
Perhaps an addition of an automated invite prompt could be implemented as well, to reduce the amount of typing required to ask players if they are interested in a group.
What are your thoughts on this? Could it work? Would you use it?
I feel this system would benefit the community greatly, and surely speed up the process of formation within the world of the game.
