Where to obtain Arcanist starting weapon?

Why not just start with Arcanist?

Well, i for one love Gridania and i'm a Gridanian through and through. (^_^ ) My current main is Archer and my second favorite class is the Conjurer. Next to that, i want to do Botany and Carpentry as well, so all the more reason for me to set Gridania as my hometown. I'll be joining the Twin Adder again when i have the chance. (^_~ )

That being said, i really want to play Arcanist/Summoner/Scholar, so i'll be visiting the Arcanist as soon as possible.

If I recall correctly in order to start using a brand new class you have to go to the guild first. The first quest you do will give you a weapon. So in order to start Arcanist you will have to travel to Limsa. There used to be shops in all cities that sold level 1 weapons but since the guild unlocking requirement has been added to ARR the only place to get starter weapons is the guilds. If you want to start in a city that doesn't hold the class you want because of the starting story. You will just have to get to level 10 in a class of that city then travel

Almost. The level 1 weapons can still be crafted, however, you can not equip them unless you've joined the corresponding guild. I assume these were left in there incase you get rid of the weapon before qualifying for the next one as well as making HQ available at level 1.

You couldn't craft the level 1 Weathered weapons & tools and you couldn't get Weathered HQ versions either. You could buy them from an NPC - although only specific ones sold them in B3 as opposed to earlier tests, but yes, you couldn't equip them until you had visited the corresponding guild and unlocked the class.

been too long since p3 lol, maybe I did buy it from a vendor. I know I crafted an HQ cane that I equipped my CJN with, thought it was the lvl 1, but I may be wrong on that. My point was that there is another way to get them, just incase you ditch the one you get from the guild before you can equip the level 5? one(or was it 7? dammit, I wish it was Friday already lol)
