The chocobo the warrior hume is riding is wearing the same armor and the same as in the promo, though it's very difficult to see why it makes a difference now that Yoshi has introduced so many other mounts and bonuses and gave-aways to over-shadow it.

The class armor you can earn looks way better on a normal chocobo than a Legacy chocobo. Sadly, on the video, it doesn't emphasize what the chocobo will actually look like at launch(maybe it'll be yellow with black tips on its feathers, like the concept art).

here's some food for thought for ya, whenever they talk about the barding, they're constantly saying "companion" not "chocobo" so this leads me to believe that other mounts may be able to wear barding

yes it is very expected for this to be the case... Although I can't imagine that it would be available right away, since that would require a myriad of new command button looks and balance testing...

Chocobo companions you say? I believe they were tested already. Expect it to be in Open Beta. I see barding as different than companion features. You could change the look of your chocobo in 1.0 but all you could do it ride.
In 2.0, expect to call your chocobo not only to ride it but to fight.

no chocobo companions was available and likely be available. I was talking about the news ones like goobbue (yes it is old) and coeurl mount. If they allowed them to fight then they would need new button command designs and balance testing...
