I think their point is choosing the city you want to start in and the questline story to experience rather than let arcanist dictate that it must be Limsa's story. They want to level arcanist, but they'd rather Gridania be their hometown.

This is exactly my reason. I am too loyal to Grid to start in Limsa just for Arcanist.

1.0 characters will start in a different location than we did in the last few phases; a new area to "pop" back in, so I'm not even 100% sure that our starting class will affect much (But yeah, story-wise I think you're right).

That was my assumption up until I saw how they had 1.0 characters appear in phase 3. In phase 3 we chose what class we wanted to be and then got a special opening of our arrival in the city that was different than the new character arrival. We'll find out soon, but I don't think they'd make a special 1.0 opening if it was just going to be for one beta phase.

I vaguely remember them saying at some point there would be a special opening for 1.0 characters. Story is that we were sent forward in time by Lousioux so technically it is a different beginning.

I also didn't get to play my 1.0 during p3, apparently I had 2 accounts and activated my beta code on the wrong one.

I did the same thing >< Luckily noticed early enough and they changed it for me ^^ Then got another 2 codes before it even mattered anyway...

Oh, I thought that it was just a temporary countermeasure to avoid spoilers? I started a new character as well as using my old 1.0 one but started in a different nation so maybe I didn't spot the differences. I thought we'd pop in an area similar to the Warriors of Light in the trailer, but meh =b It's nice to dream! I guess it doesn't really matter =)

From what I remember, we did pop where the trailer did. Except it was only as a short cutscene and then it puts us on the boat just like everyone else before handing over control of the character (in the city dictated by what class we chose at that log-in, not what we last logged off as).

I think this is all we're getting, and I don't foresee it changing in beta4, early access, or launch.

what I remember (from the ul'dah opening) was you have the old dream with "think... etc", you fight the evil mage guy with your character job, and you wake up on the cart... I don't remember any entering the cart or boat thing... but to be fair I left my character in the inn room and I didn't complete the story in 1.0... would be interesting if they only set it for that... so only ppl who finished the story and thus went to the battle field was teleported... so if you left you character in the inn room during the battle, you weren't in need to be sent to the future so you didn't get teleported... but then there is the issue of how you got the mark on the back... or maybe I just didn't notice getting in the cart when I saw it...

Methinks all 1.0 characters were saved by Louisoix, Dalamud was still there no matter what point of the story you were at.

I still think the Phase 3 CS was temporary, but I guess we'll see in a few days.

special opening? I don't remember that being the case. I mean in phase 1 of beta test 3, I didn't see any significant differences from when I switched to my 1.0 character. Do you recall a difference? If so can you say it? But to be fair in phase 1 I started in Limsa and switched to Ul'dah once I got my beta character... I did hear them mention that there might be a special area, but that was a long time ago and I think that idea has been scrapped and replaced with special opening, I just didn't know the new opening was already established...
