Moghancements in FFXIV?

Ok, I'm going to be feeling really stupid if this question has already been answered but after searching on my own I couldn't find anything so here goes...

In FFXI we had "moghancements", which were bonuses you could get based on how you furnished your residence. You could have a moghancement that benefits a craft, a moghancement based on an element, or any of many others to choose from. This gave furnishings an even more practical purpose beyond storage and style and I liked it a lot.

My question now is, will there be moghancements in FFXIV ARR? We all know there will be residences, some of which are truly enormous, but will the furnishings be for storage and style only or might we actually be able to build up "moghancement goldsmithing" or something of the like? Also, *if* there are moghancements, will larger houses afford you the opportunity to have more active moghancements than a smaller one?

We don't know the details, but furnishings will offer passive benefits. The system may be quite different though.

It would be interesting to know if larger houses allow for more passive benefits at a time or if each room can be used to generate its own, etc... We are nearing the end of phase 3 and phase 4 is basically early access before early access so it would be really good to get this kind of info sooner rather than later.

We asked about this, and the development team said they had looked into it previously but wanted to emphasize the priority of player freedom in creating and arranging the furniture layout of their homes above that of crafting bonuses, so this isn't something we're looking into implementing.

Thank you very much Hvinire! That is the first time a dev has responded to one of my threads! I am happy about that, even though I admittedly dislike the answer lol. At least now I know for sure the answer to my question.

See, I read Hvinire's post differently. What I got from it was you won't need to repeatedly place the same two or three furniture pieces to get a desired effect. Rather you can layout the furniture and design your house the way you choose, without worrying about what effect it will cause. And when you do want an effect, like an exp bonus, you place a single tower in your house and done! You don't have to completely redesign everything to switch from an exp bonus to a HQ crafting one.

You will be able to receive bonuses for crafting and exp and the like by adding certain stuff (towers, furniture, etc) to your house in the housing area, if I recall correctly.

I'm going to have to side with the devs here. While moghancements were a handy feature, they pigeonholed you into using certain furniture items and it drastically limited your ability to create a cool looking house while still getting your bonuses.
