I'm confused

Hello, i'm just a bit confused. I have Legacy status and I got an e-mail the other day that said this:

Thank you for signing up for the FFXIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Test!

We’ve noticed that you haven’t registered your Beta Test code yet. To ensure that you’re prepared for our upcoming beta test, we encourage you to register your code before Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 10:00 p.m. (PDT)!

I'm a bit confused because I've been playing since the first beta without having to use a beta code, is it different for Phase 4?

You would have had to register a beta code at some point to gain access to the game. Attempting to log in without doing so would result in a message telling you about not having a proper service account.

I think this is just a mass e-mail sent out to remind those players who possibly haven't played the entire time and might have forgotten.

I'd like to point out as well (just in-case) that if you were testing on a PS3, you will apparently be send another code in the next few weeks to download the Phase 4 client to replace the Phase 3 one. So if this applies to you, keep an eye on your e-mail.

If not, just download the Phase 4 Beta Client via forums as usual for Windows PC when its announced.

I got this email to but I could not register it to my account as I already have a beta account, so it does seem this code is indeed for PS3 phase 4. I'd try registering it on PS3 but I played it on PS3 for about 10 minutes and I don't intend to ever play that crap again.
