I could write a long post about how bad most of these ideas are and why, but one thing you said caught my attention as to why it would be futile:

You find the game bland an uninteresting, you don't feel connected to your avatar or city etc.

Have you considered the fact that: You may just not like the game?

Sure it's not finished but, if you don't even like any character you make, or can't feel a connection to anything; you might just not like the game in general lol.

I for one feel deeply connected to my avatar, my city, my linkshells...etc etc...ect....

I imagine it's all on your point of view; to me the game world is full of wonder to explore; I know many would disagree, but I invite them to come Travel with Ol'Jake some time.

Also, I agree. I feel no attachment to anything in the game except for my LS-mates. But I'm not going to (eventually) pay 15 bucks a month for a glorified chatroom.
This is the only problem SE has to deal with. No one feels any attachment.

First, we need PvE events (dungeons, w/e) that require us to do them regularly for very long periods of time.
Second, we need rewards that make us feel like we earned something (Stamina+ gear, etc) [but SE wont do this until they change the battle system, since Stamina and such might go away, but in the mean time, all of our gear is meaningless since DEF is the only stat on any of it... and no, STR doesnt mean anything]
Third, we need side content to make the grinding of PvE fun (beseiged, golden saucer, Colosseum, etc)
Last, we need disparities between jobs - what makes Fire different from Banish? every WS and every spell is the same but with a different name. The only reason to use one over the other atm is Incapacitation.

Then write it. You're just saying "this is bad" without explaining why.

So you're saying the idea is futile because the game looks bland to him and not to you. You're therefore implying most other people don't find the game bland. I obviously don't have a statistic, but something tells me you are the one who is wrong.

I know someone who can stare at a marmot in Blackbrush and have their day made, but most people aren't that easy to entertain.
As a player i felt the world was bland from day 1. You probably just like bland things, can find simple things interesting or make your own content by roleplaying. It is actually a remarkable skill to be able to do so, but please realize you are a minority.

Yes we are few, but proud, the gifted marmot starers.

To the OP: I saw a few things I liked in your ideas. In particular, I like the idea of having leves issued from the appropriate guild. Maybe not all of them, but definitely some that apply to the guild, and possibly always award the respective guild marks. I also believe that the side stories for each guild should be greatly expanded and begin much earlier. No later than 10, for sure. These side stories should be at least on par with the main story. Something a la Elder Scrolls guilds would be nice.

I'm not too keen on the idea of removing sp, yet I can understand purchasing all your class skills from the guild, but only if some form of non-anima travel is introduced. In fact, anything that is found solely in one city and has a high degree of dependance on should only exist after non-anima travel is implemented. But that's a completely different topic.

On the issue of feeling disconnected from your character, I had a similar problem during beta. Being a former Galka, I expected to exist as a Roegadyn in Eorzea, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't build a character that I was connected to. That is, not until I created my Lalafell. I have more connection to my little guy than any of the Roegadyn I crafted. It was a hard decision to make the permanent change, but it was the right one for me. Even though I tend to get bored with the lack of content, I can't imagine NOT playing my Lalafell.

I am in favor of GB leaving to play Mortal Kombat, if he persists with this 'fight the (SE) system' crap.

I am strongly against resident trolls that contribute nothing, have no original or constructive ideas, and do nothing but complain or make condescending remarks about everything.

    re: the OP
Your ideas are really good, I especially like the GP one. I always thought that the rank up = suddenly know a new ability concept was a heavy blow to the immersion aspect of the game. [+1]
