    So why remove ffxiv artwork from the game?

    So looking at the 2.0 maps on xivdb.com and 1.0 on Zam. Saying to myself where is the artwork from 1.0. Had to photoshop to see what it could look like.









    I think they should add it into the new game. Would give it more quality. Main map should have some artwork and leave it out of the mini map to make it easyer for mini map to handle.

    I think they got lazy about it to accommodate the piece-by-piece revelation of the maps. Doesn't mean they can't fill in the "non-walkable" space once the maps are filled, they just haven't.

    Going bit off topic here but how do you feel about 1.0 areas not being in 2.0. I know all areas have been changed but was looking forward to areas that were in 1.0 that were gonna be transformed into something not copyed and pasted but something completely new.

    There has been areas deleted pretty much completely in ARR. When looking at 1.0 & 2.0 areas alot of locations were removed.

    I feel that some new locations were created and alot of 1.0 that was gonna be in the game were removed. I think the game was pushed out to quickly and lost alot of 1.0 areas we were looking foward to be cut out of the game.

    In Time I'm sure. ARR is still a youngion, due to the fact that it hasn't been Released yet. Many updates are coming our way. For some strange reason, players are taking the Beta test as the final result, forgetting that they are there to find bugs, not to enjoy the "full" game. This game will be around for the next 7+ years. They set themselves up for much to expand on. I can say, I feel like a kid again when I think about the adventures to be had for the next decade.

    Nanawa Mines is completely gone. Also in ARR it seems gone and icon seems misplaced so I thought of an idea of helping them make another zone. Central zone for lv10ish and Northern Thanalan is lv40+. So why not add a middle level area in between those 2 zones. Call it Nanawa Mines.

    Heres 1.0 map.



    Heres 1.0 Map made more simple, alot smaller and less space to deal with so your not using alot of stuff from 1.0 Nana Mines to build it easyer.

    On the Right is zone to Central Thanalan and on the left its zone to Northern Thanalan. In the middle. Could be lv28 or 35 raid.



    I know they removed Nana Mines assets and put them into Copperbell raid and removed Copper Bell area and probably will see it in Cutters Cry.

    2.0 maps are a lot more geographical than pictoral. When you fully fill out a map you can see that all the empty spaces around the reachable territory is marked with lines that indicate bodies of water, elevated land and other kinds of terrain.

    1.0 maps didn't really have any features of the terrain outside the explorable regions which is why it had the artwork. And while I love the artwork on the old maps I don't think that they match the style of the new ones.

    Might have something to do with 1.0 "not the full game" ending up being "full game" after all

    On topic: I personally am pretty indifferent about the artwork being on the ingame map. I'd rather enjoy it in more detail in an artbook.

    I wouldn't call it laziness on SE to not put them in, it was a conscious decision to make the maps easier to read.

    I can't remember, but the drawings might be viewable when you zoom out (there are these standard maps, and then when zooming out a zones map and a world map).

    Looking at more maps today and 1.0 dungeons are copy and pasted in 2.0.
