We have something better than T-boarding, it's crafting table riding.
We did it a lot in 1.0.

I think it would look weird... I am already not very excited for the magitek...

Well the T-Board from FFVIII was pretty much a floating board and I'm sure it would just need some animations of the player's character moving around on top than much animations from the board, besides maybe whatever is fueling it like fire/air/etc escaping to make it stay afloat.

I can see this, absolutely. I wouldn't be surprised if a large percentage of the furnishings down the road are fan-service-related.
As for a mount, I think this is something that would have to come out of either Garlemald or Garlond. Garlemald doesn't seem casual enough to create such a thing, and the Garlond Ironworks probably have their hands full with other things.
On a side note, if they make hoovering mounts, will we be able to cross otherwise impassable gaps, like Burnt Lizard Creek (without the bridge) or the canyon in Eastern Thanalan? Unlikely, and being unable to pass over these things even though your mount flies would seem a bit awkward. I wonder how they will handle the Ahriman mount.
Edit: given they removed inertia-related animations, don't you think this type of mount would look really awkward? It wouldn't look like surfing as much as it would look like standing on a horizontal platform. Just imagine how bad the turns would look. Next time you're on your chocobo, or even running, take note of the lack of turning animations.
I can see where your coming from, but I think it just depends on how they would develop the animations of the characters while riding them if they were to include them in-game. They can always update the information they have out right now so if they lack animations right now who is to say they won't be able to touch them up later on down the road?I can see this, absolutely. I wouldn't be surprised if a large percentage of the furnishings down the road are fan-service-related.

FF8's T Board and FF7's snowboard worked because they were both technologically based "modern" games. XIV is more a throwback to the medieval, classic fantasy style. While you could force it lore wise by just saying it's aether powered, it would seem strange to see people "T-boarding" everywhere around Eorzea. You couldn't freely skate in 7 or 8 either.
If you really wanted to see them in-game, maybe a mini t-board minion, but tbh I don't think it's well known enough for the devs to put in. Depending on how the Gold Saucer is set up, proper lore might be temporarily "lifted" inside allowing for a greater variety of games. If that's the case, we might see FF7's snowboard/balloon game which is probably the closest you'll get to riding a board in XIV.
I really didn't care for the snowboarding or motorcycle game in FFVII, but I mean anything that is Final Fantasy related that comes is welcomed cause it is a part of their history/lineage.
I'm not for the whole skater crowd, I just remembered Zell used them in VIII and they did look pretty neat. But you know, I'm just happy with what the FFXIV team dishes out for us.![]()
