First Expansion "Rebirth" at PS3 Release and Monthly Fees.

Though the game has been out for 6 months now, Yoshi-P (pronounced Yoshi-pwn) has only really been in charge of the project for 3 months. Considering the first month is settling in and getting to know your team, then a month of development, then a national desaster.... we have not seen the potential of his development strategy. I have a feeling the momentum of the patches is going to pick up quickly over the summer.

Assuming his 3 to 6 month plans execute correctly, and the battle system is fixed, do you think they will have time to create the "meaty content" that I personally think needs to be there before the second release on PS3. I mean an expansion worth of content. New jobs, new zones, main scenario quest, chocobos, airships and Ishgar anyone? I know I am leaving stuff out. Everybody has their own list.

I'll pay cash to play now lets not lie......but most of my friends won't, and I won't pay cash to play alone. They should start the reoccurring monthly payments at PS3 release in concurrence with an expansion, or at least announce the expansion with a minimum of 3/6 things I listed above as content, what do you think? Hell why not call it "Final Fantasy XIV Rebirth" sounds like a great title to me.

It all depends on what Yoshi is doing with his dev team, they announced in a prior interview in 2010 the FFXIV team was around 100 people strong. 100 people would not be able to do 1 thing, because it would be like 10 people working and 90 ppl watching them work.

If Yoshi is doing it right he has the team divided. And more content should already be in development, new mobs in development, new quest, missions, ect.

There is a chance that their might be new zones already finished, but nothing to do in them so they have not been released.

Releasing the PS3 with anything less then a polished expansion is going to be dancing on the edge of a cliff. The PS3 players and Reviewers when they rereview need to be wowed for this game to succeed. Reviewers need to say stuff like "Potentially the biggest recovery in mmo history" or "The most fun I have had in a mmo in years, what a comeback" or SE getting any PC non ffxi fans back is just not going to happen.

The PS3 version cannot be good, it has to be the best thing SE released in years for the recovery to work.

If they can get the rehauls done by Fall they should have few more months to polish the game, for a October-November re-release.

This gives me hope, I bet they have something in thier back pocket. I don't fully understand how a 100 person programming team operates, but your right, they have to have a sub-team just working on long term content, even if its like 1 pale, skinny japanese guy writting lines of code in a dark room. "Write Koji, write or no noodle soup for you today!"

In my opinion we should receive all of the areas in the region,classes that have guilds but are not playable, missions that lead us to the empire, and events in the current region for free since we bought a very incomplete game I mean really only 5 areas, almost no story missions, a lot of bugs, and no content is not acceptable as the original version of the game. Now here is my idea what should be added before the game, and on the first expansion.

Added to the original game
1.)Mission that lead us to the Garlean Empire.
2.)Small Changes to current maps (Like open up The Black Shroud Tunnels a lot more and adding more flowers designs, etc)
3.)Some new monsters
4.)Musketeers,Arcanists, and any other class that has a guild in eorzea.
5.)Adjustments to battle system, bugs
6.)All Activities in Eorzea unless they deal with the Garlean Empire.
7.)Improve Images of Spells/Skills
8.)Changes to Armory system (if any)
I know its a lot but we did pay for the original game, Either way I don't mind if we start paying the monthly as long as the adjustments to the battle system are added, and the images of the skills are improved. I understand that MMO evolve and grow, but I disagree with making players pay for stuff that is supposed to be in the game and if if the original game makers did not make anything else than what we have thats there fault, and SE should just shut down the project and release it when its ready, that doesn't mean I won't pay the monthly because when I bought the original game I agreed to pay a monthly fee but nothing else, unless I want the expansion for content that is not revealed to us.

Instead of Rebirth they should slip something about Phoenix inthe title. "FFXIV: Rise of the Phoenix" or "Flames of the Phoenix" especially if what has been hinted at is true and they are going to burn down the black Shroud and redo it.
