How many Valient Blades are there? Is there a similar story in another FF?
How many Valient Blades are there? Is there a similar story in another FF?
Got "dumb" question... People seem to be very disappointed if Lou comes "back"...is there another video where we actually see him die? I assumed he did, but I did not see it. Could I get the link? I like to keep up on the lore when I can.
Nothing aside from the End of an Era cinematic, but the way that he breaks his staff, loses hope, summons the energy required to send everyone away, and then struggles to hold himself up, smiling as everything around him gets brighter, all points to the intended interpretation being he died in noble sacrifice.
If he survived, that's not him pulling off an unlikely ambiguity, we were misdirected for the sake of an emotional punch - which, I can't speak for everyone, but I think SE's better than that when it comes to a central character during the conclusion of a story arc.
At this point, though, I'm preparing myself for the real possibility that those of us who think it'd be cheap to do anything other than let him rest in peace are just going to have to deal with it. Speaking for myself, I'm not uncompromising, but if they plan on bringing him back in any way, the execution is going to have to be pretty damn good for me to not just sigh at it. If that's where they're heading with it, I wish them the best of luck. The last thing I want to do is come off like one of those "fans" who just sits on the sidelines shouting nonconstructive put-downs.

No, this is what *they* want you to think.Nothing aside from the End of an Era cinematic, but the way that he breaks his staff, loses hope, summons the energy required to send everyone away, and then struggles to hold himself up, smiling as everything around him gets brighter, all points to the intended interpretation being he died in noble sacrifice.
*dons Darksteel Foil Hat*
Why were we sent away again? To protect us from a Megaflare that possibly never happened? If so, why for five years and not five days? Wouldn't the people of Eorzea need the help of bold adventurers to rebuild after the decimation of Bahamut?
More likely, Louisoix needed the aether-energy from all of the Echo-damned souls present to summon the one thing that could defeat Bahamut - Odin. We were banished en-masse as our lives (and even the aetheric-resonant memories of us in the mothercrystal lattice) were drained from us to fuel the awakening of the Elder Primal. Only after five years of Eorzeans praying to The Twelve, were The Twelve (from their vantage points as crystals circling around it) able to feed Hydaelyn enough aether to reconstitute us.
Zenaku, this just says the paths he roams are long-forgotten and not that he has been roaming them for a long time. This text doesn't prevent him from being summoned last week (or perhaps five years ago).A fell knight clad all in black, Odin roams paths long forgotten beneath the canopy of the Black Shroud. There are none now alive who know the truth of when or by whom this elder primal was first summoned into the world. Ever vigilant as he sits astride his mighty steed, Sleipnir, it is said that Odin is driven solely by the desire to do battle with worthy foes.

This is now officially part of the Lore Forum Meme Canon.
Anonymoose: Ancient Ascians Guy (SIREN! ASCIANS!)
Catapult: "Don't tell me you've not heard of..."
Mjollnir: Darksteel Foil Hat (or Darklight Tinfoil Hat, maybe? I'll keep thinking...)
As for your points, you're technically right. The whole Monk storyline, told by the same guy who laid out all the lore about Midgardsormr and Crystal Tower, was all about how scenes of catastrophic death leave behind a ton of aether, though it's up for debate how much of it could possibly have been used to summon Odin after he funneled what had to have been a ton of it into channelingThaliakAlthyk for the time-limbo. Also, that wording is suspiciously open to Odin being new to the world.
Plenty of doors still open.

Should commission Nique to do fan art of this. Catapult and Anony arguing over some lore point, while Mjollnir scratches his darksteel foil hat.
