Example as to why we do need an AH

A lot of talk about why do we need an AH or why we do not need an AH.

If you'd like we can turn this into a Poll: Agree or Disagree

Disclaimer: Granted the current fixes to the wards are fine and do need improvement but... it's not something we need in this game.

Well this game is currently under an overhaul and a complete revamp and I feel that an Auction House would be sublime. Why? Let me show you and explain.

Here is an example of Aions Auction and it's beneficiaries:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6QXjhTUdL8

    - Categorization
    - Price assortment and lists
    - Easy searches from common ~ rare
    - Fast and Efficient
    - You want it? Right click it and buy it (It's now in your inventory)
    - Want to sell it? Right click it and list price (It's now on the broker)
    - Want to know what you look like before you buy it? Right Click + CTRL
    - Want to know how much an item is you have but you don't want to type out the name? Right click it and it appears in the search box.
    - Want to know the stats? Highlight it and it will show you what it has in a pop up bubble
    - Who is selling it? Names are listed so give them a whisper so you can haggle some prices~
    - Auction house is connected throughout the entire server
    - Alleviates lag in many different aspects

I can continue on with the list but there is no need as it is obvious as to what an AH really offers.

The effectiveness of instantaneously buying and selling at will with no restrictions with absolute convenience is why we need an AH.

I currently can't find any videos on the up to date market wards but I'm pretty sure everyone knows the hassel you have to go through to buy and sell items; it's a very time consuming process that takes a lot longer than what it should.

Same story for vendering items to an NPC

Like I said in my post in the market section the wards can't last. Ul'Dah being the only place to buy stuff is a huge crutch for new players and when the game picks up the wards are going to be getting filled to the brim in no time.

Exactly, come PS3 release the market system will be an absolute lag fest and a huge mess and the server might actually crash with the amount of traffic flowing in out and within the Ul'Dah city/wards

Aion is a bad example of an AH as most ppl tell you NOT to use it since quests drop all your gear. It also hard to sell stuff on that AH. I tried selling stuff and it was never bought I even went way lower the the price listed.

    - Alleviates lag in many different aspects

also not true every AH has missive lag no matter what game i've played there was TONS of ppl afk/not afk @ the AH. It caused pretty nasty lag.

Aions AH INTERFACE was the example I had used. Not how well peoples items were selling.. If you want to get on that topic and change things up a bit then fine.

I played AIon for 2 years and had absolutely no problem what soever buying and selling items. I came straight from FF11 and when I came in touch with Aions AH it felt like it was a god send... So easy, so fast, I was able to generate cash up the wazoo (it all depends on what you find and how much it's worth or) a great way to make money in Aion was crafting your own consumables and selling them since the game was consumable heavy and extremely easy and efficient.

A good way to make money in FF14 is crafting your own weapons (after dreading thought the whole crafting process) and arrows and selling those too as they are highly sought after. But going through the horrid process of selling/buying those items are what I am trying to get at.

Really? another AH thread? there are another 2 on this page.

AH is hardest at start but when you learn about it is better than market. At least the current market wards, but if SE make a better ward it's fine for me. It need an easier way to find things w/o going to the door.

I can't think of a single reason why Market Wards is better then an AH for purchasing from other players quickly and efficently.

It's because there simply is none. My statement just now isn't a troll but is a fact and the obvious. The next step up from the ward system is to simply... make an AH.

They can even keep the ward system and implement an AH and they will see how quickly the wards will collect dust. No player will ever turn back to using wards but most will camp outside with extra items for sale occasionally when their market list is full which is perfectly acceptable.

Thing is, 14 want to be unique, having an AH wouldn't make it unique...

How about this? Maybe in a Update, side mission, or something you get from a mission, you get a Mog. Lets say you are killing major NM,grinding, or don't want to search Wards yourself. need an item. You can summon your Mog and search items in the market wards using the Mog, you don't have to move. You Send Mog off when you find desired item, they take a small fee (1-5k gil? more?) they bring it to you(1-5min delay? gil amount you pay gives a faster delivery?). That sounds unique to me O.o
this idea just popped in my head =/.

The crashing of the wards i don't know how to fix though.

So, I disagree with a AH.
