Yeah, you don't HAVE to preorder thru the SE site. plenty of other sites online sell ARR.

Dude, your link is only for PS3 version of the CE. Gamestop doesn't have the PC version.

Amazon 'appears' to have the CE for PC, but when you select it it says 'not available' and offers the Standard PC version instead.


I'm not saying you can't find the PC ARR CE game outside of SE....but I kinda doubt it.

It appears leaving out the information for ease of complaining has bitten me in the rear. Lemme 'splain.

Both myself and my girlfriend have Legacy accounts. I have an account with a 1.0 Collector's Edition code tacked on, so I will receive the in-game CE items for free. My galpal owns a digital copy of 1.0, but likes having physical copies for her shelf. Can't say I blame her.

We both want pre-order bonuses AND AAR CE items. The original plan was to pick up a CE for me (and my gamerswag collection) and a regular copy for her (because she doesn't care that much). We use the pre-order codes, I give her the CE items codes, we move on.

However, since the Windows CE codes are account-bound, I'll need to find another avenue. If Digital Whats-It doesn't allow me to buy a Windows CE (which, I'd honestly prefer, since I don't own a PS3), I'll just pre-order a PS3 CE and a standard Windows version elsewhere and give her the codes from the PS3 version. *shruggidy shrug*

Probably going to cost me more in the long run going my original route, as I'd have to purchase her a CE upgrade as well.

Sorry for that not being clear earlier. Thought it'd be easier to understand with less mess.

OP:
I get that the main reason you want the CE is the Swag. Do you or one of your friends who wishes to play ARR have a PS3? As long as you don't mind them keeping the game and all the in-game items associated with it, you could buy the PS3 version from anywhere. Then, just give the friend the game, and you get everything else. (You can't use the PS3 codes on a PC account for the in-game items, they are tied to the PS3 version of the game/account)

Also, you could probably work out a deal, with your friend so that they paid you the 39.99 which is the price PS3 standard version of the game would cost. You could then take that money, buy yourself the ARR CE Digital upgrade for 19.99. if you did this, You would have the in-game items as well. (I am not sure if you would get Early Access and it's associated items with the Digital Upgrade).

If you did all this:

Friend would have:
PS3 copy of the game
Early Access
In-game CE Items
In-game Early Access items
(For 39.99...which is a little more than they'd get for that price alone as they will have the CE items)

You'd have:
Access to the game on your PC via your free 1.0 user download
The physical Collectors Edition items.
The in-game CE items (if you purchased the Digital upgrade)
Also, while you would have paid 79.99 for the game, and 19.99 for the CE digital upgrade, if you had your friend pay their share (39.99) You'd actually come out on the cheaper side at around $60. If you don't get the digital upgrade, you can have the physical swag for closer to 40

The problems with this are that you might still need to find a way to purchase the digital upgrade via SE's store...and you need a friend who wishes to play who has a PS3 and doesn't want the CE version. But you CAN buy the PS3 CE anywhere.

She can only use the PS3 codes *if* you have a PS3 she can unlock them with and tie them to her account. If all she wants are the little items, that is 19.99... but I *think* it has to be purchased via SE's store... :/ (which goes back to your original problem).

But in your case, the PC CE version doesn't work for either of you...because you can't tie those codes to an existing SE PC account. SO you'd have the physical swag, but the in-game item codes wouldn't work for you :/

Yeah, unfortunately, everyone that I'm playing with wants the pre-order items AND the CE items, so I can't split a copy with someone without one of us being shorted the items.

So, no matter what, I need at least two real copies of the game, one being CE of some kind. I guess I'm just going to be putting out for the digital upgrade, since my lady can't use the codes. Oye, SE. What is going on?
